BuckleyGrayYeoman is a British architectural firm based in the Shoreditch district of London, UK.
Since its establishment, the number of people employed by the practice has grown from three in 1997 to eighty five in 2016. BuckleyGrayYeoman has been based in the Tea Building in Shoreditch for the past 12 years. [1]
Recently completed projects include: The Buckley Building for Derwent London, [4] the refurbishment of a former BBC building named for Henry Wood, the founder of the BBC proms, [5] The Pure Aldgate Student Accommodation building (a 19-storey building), [3] The Passage (charity), London's largest voluntary sector day centre for the homeless, [6] new academic and sports buildings for Channing School and Forest School [7] [8] and a number of Citadines Apart'Hotel in the UK and France.
The firm has designed premises in Frankfurt and Bangkok for the Fred Perry clothing company. [9] [10]
Current projects include: a new art hub at Cromwell Place, South Kensington, [11] the commercial office buildings that form part of the regeneration of Bishopsgate GoodsYard in Shoreditch, [12] the revamp of a hundred metres of shop-front at the base of the Newport Sandringham building on Charing Cross Road and in Chinatown, London, [13] the renovation of a Victorian bonded warehouse building, converting it into office spaces for the Granada Studios redevelopment in Manchester. [14]
In January 2015 BuckleyGrayYeoman designed a refurbishment of the Wickhams Department Store in East London which included the removal of the façade of Spiegelhalter's jewellery shop, a well-known historic holdout building. [15] After a petition and a protest campaign with the backing of English Heritage, the Twentieth Century Society and the Victorian Society, the plans were revised to keep the Spiegelhalters façade in May 2015. [16] [17]
In 2015 the practice completed the refurbishment of the Grade II listed boarding houses at Roedean School in Sussex, originally built by John William Simpson [18]
In 2015, a design for a Nando's restaurant in Loughton won the Best Fast/Casual category in the Restaurant and Bar Design Awards.[ citation needed ] In 2015 also, the practice won the WIN Awards for Roedean School, [19] the Retail Week Interior Award for Fred Perry in Covent Garden, the Mixology Awards for Henry Wood House. Shoreditch is a district in the East End of London in England, and forms the southern part of the London Borough of Hackney. Neighbouring parts of Tower Hamlets are also perceived as part of the area.
Liverpool Street station, also known as London Liverpool Street, is a central London railway terminus and connected London Underground station in the north-eastern corner of the City of London, in the ward of Bishopsgate Without. It is the terminus of the West Anglia Main Line to Cambridge, the Great Eastern Main Line to Norwich, commuter trains serving east London and destinations in the East of England, and the Stansted Express service to Stansted Airport.
Tower 42, commonly known as the NatWest Tower, is a 183-metre-tall (600 ft) skyscraper in the City of London. It is the fifth-tallest tower in the City of London, having been overtaken as the tallest in 2010 by the 230-metre (750 ft) Heron Tower. It is the fifteenth-tallest in London overall. Its original name was the National Westminster Tower, having been built to house NatWest's international headquarters. Seen from above, the shape of the tower resembles that of the NatWest logo.
Shoreditch was a London Underground station located in Shoreditch in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets in east London. Originally opened by the East London Railway in 1876, the station was permanently closed in 2006 being replaced directly to the west of the site by Shoreditch High Street station in 2010.
Bishopsgate was one of the eastern gates in London's former defensive wall. The gate's name is traditionally attributed to Earconwald, who was Bishop of London in the 7th century. It was first built in Roman times and marked the beginning of Ermine Street, the ancient road running from London to York (Eboracum). The gate was rebuilt twice in the 15th and 18th centuries, but was permanently demolished in 1760.
Spitalfields is a district in the East End of London and within the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. The area is formed around Commercial Street and includes the locale around Brick Lane, Christ Church, Toynbee Hall and Commercial Tavern. It has several markets, including Spitalfields Market, the historic Old Spitalfields Market, Brick Lane Market and Petticoat Lane Market. It was a Hamlet of the large ancient parish of Stepney in Middlesex, and became an independent parish in 1729. Just outside the City of London, it formed part of the County of London from 1889 and was part of the Metropolitan Borough of Stepney from 1900. It was abolished as a civil parish in 1921.
Bishopsgate was a railway station located on the eastern side of Shoreditch High Street in the parish of Bethnal Green on the western edge of the East End of London and just outside the City of London.

22 Bishopsgate, also known as Twentytwo, is a commercial skyscraper in London, England. Completed in 2020, it occupies a prominent site in Bishopsgate, in the City of London financial district, and stands at 278 m (912 ft) tall with 62 storeys. The project replaces an earlier plan for a 288 m (945 ft) tower named The Pinnacle, on which construction was started in 2008 but suspended in 2012 following the Great Recession, with only the concrete core of the first seven storeys. The structure was later subjected to a re-design, out of which it became known by its postal address, 22 Bishopsgate. It is the second tallest building in the United Kingdom and the second tallest building in Western Europe.
Roedean School is an independent boarding and day school founded in 1885 in Roedean Village on the outskirts of Brighton, East Sussex, England, and governed by Royal Charter. It is for girls aged 11 to 18. The campus is situated near the Sussex Downs, on a cliff overlooking Brighton Marina and the English Channel. It is widely regarded as the "Eton College" of all-girls boarding schools in the United Kingdom.
Salesforce Tower, 110 Bishopsgate is a commercial skyscraper in London. It stands 230 metres (755 ft) tall including its 28-metre (92 ft) mast making it the second tallest building in the City of London financial district and the fifth tallest in Greater London and the United Kingdom, after the Shard in Southwark and One Canada Square at Canary Wharf. 110 Bishopsgate is located on Bishopsgate and is bordered by Camomile Street, Outwich Street and Houndsditch.
Shoreditch High Street is a London Overground station located on Bethnal Green Road in Shoreditch in East London. It is served by the East London Line between Whitechapel and Hoxton with services running either to Dalston Junction, Highbury & Islington or New Cross, New Cross Gate, West Croydon, Crystal Palace, and is in Travelcard Zone 1.
Haggerston is a locale in East London, England, centred approximately on Queensbridge Road. It is within the London Borough of Hackney and is considered to be a part of London's East End. It is about 3.1 miles (5 km) northeast of Charing Cross.

Marine Gate is a large block of flats built in 1939 to the design of architects Wimperis, Simpson and Guthrie. It stands to the East of the English seaside resort of Brighton bordering Whitehawk and Roedean, and is situated in the Rottingdean Coastal ward overlooking Brighton Marina and Black Rock. Originally built with 105 flats, a restaurant and offices, internal reconfiguration has increased the number of flats to 132. The International/Modern-style building is situated in a clifftop position at the eastern border of Brighton. Its proximity to a now derelict gasworks resulted in it being damaged by bombs several times during World War II, to the extent that it was Brighton's most bombed building.
30 South Colonnade, also now known as YY London, is a commercial building in Canary Wharf, London. The building was originally designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and completed in 1991. It was purchased in 2019 by joint venture between Oaktree Capital Management and Quadrant. An extensive refurbishment was completed in 2023 by architects Buckley Gray Yeoman, which included three additional floors bringing its total size to 415,000 sqft. The refurbished building stands at 75.5 m (248 ft) tall, with a total of 17 floors – a ground floor, upper ground floor, mezzanine level and 14 upper floors including a rooftop terrace. The building design focuses on sustainability and wellness with extensive on floor terraces, BREEAM Outstanding and WELL Platinum ESG certificates and an all-electric strategy. It has been designed to be net zero in operation.
PLP Architecture is an architecture firm based in London. In June 2016, the firm received planning permission for 22 Bishopsgate, the tallest tower in the City of London.

On completion, it will be the 10th-tallest building in London and the United Kingdom. The building is situated on the corner of Bishopsgate and Leadenhall Street, where it neighbours 122 Leadenhall Street and 22 Bishopsgate, two taller skyscrapers also constructed as part of a recent wave of high-rise development in the Bishopsgate area, caused by growing demand for office space in the City of London.
