The A Dogwood District is a high school conference of the Virginia High School League which draws most of its members from Lynchburg and Danville, Virginia areas. The schools in the Dogwood District compete in A Region B with the schools of the A Bull Run District, the A James River District and the A Shenandoah District. For several years, the district was a "combination district" with some teams in Group A and others in Group AA Region III, with often-complicated procedures for advancement to Region playoffs.

The James River District (JRD) is a high school athletic conference of the Virginia High School League with most schools based in the Southside Virginia region. All of the James River District schools are relatively small with enrollments under 1,000. The schools in the James River District compete in A Region B with the schools of the A Bull Run District, A Dogwood District, and the A Shenandoah District.

The A Shenandoah District is a high school conference of the Virginia High School League which draws its members from the central part of the Shenandoah Valley, as the district name suggests. The schools in the Shenandoah District compete in A Region B with the schools of the A Bull Run District, A Dogwood District, and the A James River District.

Virginia Beach City Public Schools is the branch of the government of the city of Virginia Beach, Virginia responsible for public K-12 education. Like all public school systems in the state, it is legally classified as a school division instead of a school district. Bull Run Mountains Natural Area Preserve is a 2,486-acre (10.06 km2) Natural Area Preserve located along the Bull Run Mountains in Fauquier and Prince William counties, Virginia. Dedicated in 2002, the majority of the preserve is owned and operated by the Virginia Outdoors Foundation (VOF). It harbors a number of outstanding natural community types, some of which are rare in the Commonwealth. There are also quartzite cliffs and boulder fields around High Point Mountain within the preserve's boundaries.

Christopher Todd Gilbert is an American politician currently serving as Speaker of the Virginia House of Delegates. He has been a Republican member of the Virginia House of Delegates since 2006, representing the 15th district in the Shenandoah Valley and Blue Ridge Mountains, made up of Page and Shenandoah Counties, plus parts of Rockingham and Warren Counties.

East Rockingham High School is located in Elkton, Virginia and is part of Rockingham County Public Schools and opened in August 2010. It relieved a severe overcrowding problem at Spotswood High School, which currently houses around 950 students. East Rockingham competes athletically in the VHSL Group A Bull Run District and Region B. The Principal is Marc Sweigart. The Assistant Princpals are Barbara Eanes and Brandy Strickler. The school's mascot is the Eagle and their school colors are red and black. The main rival of East Rockingham is Page County.
