The 3A Valley District is a district in Region 3C of the Virginia High School League. As the district's name implies, all the schools are located in the central part of the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, along Interstate 81. Most of the member schools are part of the Harrisonburg areas.
In 2007, all of the Valley District member schools moved from Region II to Region III due to the growth of Region II and the realignment of the AA River Ridge District from Region III to Region IV. In addition, the district split into two separate districts after the regional shift. The Harrisonburg area schools (Broadway, Harrisonburg, Spotswood, and Turner Ashby) formed the AA Massanutten District. The Staunton area schools (Fort Defiance, Lee, Rockbridge County, Stuarts Draft, and Waynesboro) formed the AA Southern Valley District.
In 2010, the VHSL reestablished the Valley District, with a few modifications from the prior configuration. The Massanutten District teams would were joined by Fort Defiance, Robert E. Lee, and Waynesboro from the Southern Valley District. Rockbridge County returned to the AA Blue Ridge District and Stuarts Draft moved down to the A Shenandoah District. The new Valley District became a member of Region III in the Fall of 2011.
Fort Defiance, Robert E. Lee, Spotswood, and Waynesboro are participants of VHSL Division 3, while Broadway, Harrisonburg, and Turner Ashby are participants of VHSL Division 4. The VHSL Divisional Alignments only are effective in Football, Boys Basketball, and Girls Basketball and the divisions are based upon school enrollment.
Recently, the VHSL released a new plan where Stuarts Draft High School would rejoin the Valley District in the start of the 2013 school year from the Group A Shenandoah District, giving the district 8 teams. The plan has not yet been approved, but likely will be. [1]
Spotswood High School is a high school in Penn Laird, Virginia, in shadow of the Massanutten Peak. As of 2008, it competes in the Virginia High School League.

HHS serves grades nine through twelve, and its athletic teams are known as the Blue Streaks. In October 2017, 1782 students were enrolled. It was rated "Fully Accredited" by the Virginia Department of Education for the 2017–2018 school year.
The AA Massanutten District was a high school conference of the Virginia High School League, consisting of schools in Rockingham County and Harrisonburg, Virginia. Schools in the Massanutten District competed in AA Region III with the schools in the AA Blue Ridge District, the AA Seminole District, and the AA Southern Valley District.

Grassfield High School is a public high school located in Chesapeake, Virginia, USA, and is administered by Chesapeake City Public Schools. It was built to ease overcrowding at Deep Creek High School, Great Bridge High School, and Hickory High School. Grassfield, along with Western Branch High School and Oscar Smith High School, features the latest technology available in the school district. Grassfield is also the City of Chesapeake's location for the STEM school as various high school students around the city can apply for admission into the program.
Virginia High School is a high school located in Bristol, Virginia. In 1999, Virginia High started offering the Tri-Cities area's first International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. Classes from the Advanced Placement program are also offered to help students who are headed to college. A career and technical wing was added to the main school building to help students who wish to go into a trade straight from high school. Courses offered for this path include: culinary arts, cybersecurity, engineering and manufacturing, coding, business, horticulture, auto-mechanics, building trades, and nursing.
Honaker High School is a public high school located in Honaker, Virginia in Russell County, Virginia. Athletic teams compete in the Virginia High School League's Class 1 Black Diamond District in Region 1D.
The Group 3A West Region is a division of the Virginia High School League. The region was formed in 2013 when the VHSL adopted a six classification format and eliminated the previous three classification system. For the purpose of regular season competition, schools may compete within districts that existed prior to 2013, while post-season competition will be organized within four conferences that make up each region.
