CanaDream is the Canadian subsidiary, active in recreational vehicle rental and sales, of the Australian company Apollo Tourism & Leisure Ltd. CanaDream was formerly headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and listed on the TXV under the symbol CDN, but was acquired by Apollo Tourism & Leisure Ltd. and delisted in July 2017. [1]

History

The company was established in December 1995, when businessmen bought Canada Campers, an ailing company in the same business, out of receivership. The business was renamed to CanaDream Campers and was operated as a privately held company, with Brian Gronberg as President.

On May 27, 1997, CanaDream Campers became a public company [2] and began trading on the TSX Venture Exchange as CanaDream Corporation, under the symbol CDN. [3]

2009

CanaDream operates 6 corporate and two franchised locations in Calgary, Vancouver, Whitehorse, Edmonton, Montreal, Toronto and Halifax. [4] Their fleet consists of approximately 700 vehicles. [5]

On 25 August 2009, CanaDream announced they were entering into a partnership in the Canadian RV rental market with Apollo Motorhome Holidays. [6] CanaDream and Apollo announced they would continue to run independently but would investigate a range of synergies between the two companies.

The Group published the market-leading Alan Rogers campsites guides and offered a European travel service for readers including ferry bookings. The Group was acquired by The Caravan Club in 2012 under the brand Alan Rogers Travel Group, along with its subsidiary company Belle France, which offers walking and cycling hotel holidays.

The company was founded in 1972 and was publicly traded in the American Stock Exchange under the ticker “RVR” until 1997. It then merged with Budget Group. Budget sold the company to its founders and management in 2000. In 2014 the company became an ESOP. It operates 132 locations across North America. Cruise America holds a 52% market-share in US recreational vehicles rental operations market.

Monaco is a recreational vehicle (RV) brand, manufactured in Decatur, Indiana, and wholly owned by REV Recreation Group. Monaco holds a portfolio of Class A diesel motorhomes. REV Recreation Group is a subsidiary of REV Group.

Holiday Rambler

Holiday Rambler Corporation is an American corporation which primarily manufactures recreational vehicles. It was founded in 1953. In 1961, Holiday Rambler’s introduction of aluminum body framing ushered in a new era of lighter, stronger and more durable recreational vehicles (RVs). This aluminum frame (Alumaframe) became the standard for lighter and stronger RVs for 40 years. Holiday Rambler was also responsible for many firsts; built-in refrigerators, holding tanks and aerodynamic radiused corners. As Holiday Rambler moved into motorhomes, they were the first with tag axles and the kitchen slide-out revolutionized "interior engineering" in the field. Holiday Rambler was sold to Harley-Davidson in 1986 and later in 1996 to the Monaco Coach Corporation where its future, then under Navistar International Corp., was difficult in 2010 as it was for most motorhome manufacturers.

Auto Europe is a large car rental wholesale company, working with approximately 24,000 car rental locations in 180 countries in Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, as well as North and South America. Auto Europe has been accredited with the Better Business Bureau since April 2, 1993 with an A+ rating. Auto Europe has been owned by Court Square Capital Partners since 2006.

JUCY is a tourism company which was founded in New Zealand. JUCY is primarily a car and campervan hire business and also operates scenic cruises in Milford Sound, and Snoozes in Auckland central, Queenstown, and Christchurch.
