The soldier beetles (Cantharidae) are relatively soft-bodied, straight-sided beetles. They are cosmopolitan in distribution. One of the first described species has a color pattern reminiscent of the red coats of early British soldiers, hence the common name. Oedemerinae are a subfamily of the false blister beetles, also known as pollen-feeding beetles. The Nacerdinae are sometimes merged here.
Platyninae is a subfamily of ground beetles.
Colasposoma is a genus of leaf beetles in the subfamily Eumolpinae. It is known from Africa, Asia and Australia.
Metacantharis is a genus of soldier beetle belonging to the family Cantharidae.
Asclerini is a tribe of false blister beetles in the family Oedemeridae. There are more than 40 genera and over 200 described species in Asclerini.
Cantharinae is a subfamily of beetles in the family Cantharidae. There are at least 200 described species in Cantharinae.
Lebiini is a tribe of ground beetles in the family Carabidae. There are more than 250 genera and 4,800 described species in Lebiini.
Elmini is a tribe of riffle beetles in the family Elmidae. There are more than 90 genera and 1,200 described species in North America.
Lycinae is a subfamily of net-winged beetles in the family Lycidae.
Trechini is a large tribe of ground beetles in the family Carabidae. There are more than 270 genera and over 2,400 described species in Trechini, found throughout the world.
Malachiini is a large tribe of soft-winged flower beetles in the family Melyridae.
Typophorini is a tribe of leaf beetles in the subfamily Eumolpinae. The tribe contains approximately 100 genera, which are found worldwide. Members of the tribe are mainly characterized by notches on the tibiae of the middle and hind legs, which are sometimes referred to as antenna cleaners. They also generally have a subglabrous body, as well as bifid pretarsal claws.
Amarygmini is a tribe of darkling beetles in the family Tenebrionidae. There are more than 80 genera in Amarygmini.
