The festival was launched in 1995 by Italian journalist Pascal Vicedomini, in association with Capri In The World Institute, a non-profit [3] organisation founded by Vicedomini. The festival is organised under the patronage of Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean. [5] It is also supported by the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Activities and Tourism. [6]
The festival takes place in Capri, Italy. [4] During the COVID-19 pandemic, the festival expanded beyond Capri, [7] and the 25th edition was organised virtually. Feature, medium and short films compete in the festival, where the works are selected by a board, which also selects the winners. [25] Entries are divided into two sections: International and Italian. Feature, medium and short films that compete in the international section, cannot participate in any other local festivals. [25]
At the end of the festival, the directors of the winning films in feature, medium, and short films category are honoured separately. [26]
