Oxford University Handball Club (OUHaC) was founded and registered as a club at the University of Oxford in 2001and has since established itself as one of England's most successful clubs. It is a member of the England Handball Association since 2002 and the Association of British Universities Handball Clubs since 2011. Every year, OUHaC competes in the English Handball League, EHA Cup and the British University Championships. Beginning in 2014, the club has played in the varsity match against the Cambridge University Handball Club. In 2016 and 2017 respectively, the women's and men's teams were granted Half Blue status by the Blues committees of the University of Oxford.
The 2010 American Handball Championship, also called PanAmericano 2010, was the 14th official competition for senior men's national handball teams of North, Center, Caribbean and South America. It was held from 22 to 26 June 2010 in Santiago, Chile. It was also acting as the qualifying competition for the 2011 World Men's Handball Championship, securing three vacancies for the World Championship. Brazil, Argentina and Chile got the Tickets for finishing at the first three places.
The Pan American Women's Youth Handball Championship was the official competition for youth women's national handball teams of Americas, and took place every two years. In addition to crowning the Pan American champions, the tournament also served as a qualifying tournament for the Youth World Championship. In 2018, the PATHF was deprived of recognition and the tournament was replaced with the IHF Trophy for North America and the Caribbean, and the South and Central American Women's Youth Handball Championship.

Handball has been a Central American and Caribbean Games event since 1993 in Ponce, Puerto Rico. In addition to crowning the handball champions of the Central American and Caribbean Games, the tournament also serves as a qualifying tournament for the Pan American Games.

Puerto Rico competed in the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada, from July 10 to 26, 2015. Unlike the 2011 Pan American games, Puerto Rico did not perform well, earning only 1 gold and silver each, and 13 bronze medals.
Handball competitions at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto will be held from July 16 to 25 at the Direct Energy Centre. Due to naming rights the arena will be known as the latter for the duration of the games. A total of eight men's and women's teams will compete in each respective tournament.

It was held from 11 to 19 June 2016 at the Tecnópolis in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It also acted as the qualifying competition for the 2017 World Men's Handball Championship in France, securing three vacancies for the World Championship.
The Pan American Youth Beach Handball Championship was the official competition for men's and women's youth national beach handball teams of America. In addition to crowning the Pan American champions, the tournament also served as a qualifying tournament for the IHF Youth Beach Handball World Championship. Only two were held as in 2018, the PATHF disbanded and the tournaments were replaced with the North America & the Caribbean and South & Central American championships.
The 2017 NorCA Women's Handball Championship was the second edition of the Nor.Ca. Women's Handball Championship. The tournament took place in Río Grande, Puerto Rico from 30 March to 3 April. It acts as the North American and Caribbean qualifying tournament for the 2017 Pan American Women's Handball Championship.
The 2017 Caribbean Handball Cup was a Handball Event held at the city of Cartagena Colombia, from 24 to 29 October to qualify the nations of the Caribe region for the handball tournament of the 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games.
Handball competitions at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru, were held from July 24 to August 5. The venue for the competition is the Sports Centre Hall 1 located at the Videna cluster. The venue also hosted judo. A total of eight men's and eight women's teams competed in each tournament. This means a total of 224 athletes are competed.
