Sir Carlyle Arnold Glean, GCMG [1] (11 February 1932 –21 December 2021) was a Grenadian politician,who served as governor-general of Grenada from 2008 to 2013.
Glean was born in Gouyave,Grenada,British Windward Islands,on 11 February 1932. [2] He was educated at the University of Calgary (BEd) and the University of East Anglia (MA,1982).
Glean served as Minister of Education in the government of Sir Nicholas Brathwaite from 1990 to 1995,after which he retired from politics.
In 2008,he was appointed Governor-General of Grenada by Elizabeth II,Queen of Grenada. He served in this position until 2013 when he was succeeded by Dame Cécile La Grenade.
Glean died on 21 December 2021,at the age of 89. [3] He received tributes from current Governor-General La Grenade, [4] Prime Minister Keith Mitchell, [5] and the National Democratic Congress. [6]

First settled by indigenous peoples,Grenada by the time of European contact was inhabited by the Caribs. His tenure is notable for the hectic events related to the rise and fall of the People's Revolutionary Government,as well as his personal involvement in and support of the invasion of Grenada.
Ben Joseph Jones was a Grenadian politician. He was a lawyer before being elected to Parliament as a member of the New National Party in 1984. In 1984 he began serving as foreign minister in the government of his party's leader,Herbert Blaize. When Blaize died in December 1989,Jones became prime minister of Grenada. He served until March 1990,when his party lost elections. He also gave up his position as foreign minister at that time,but was reappointed later that year. Though his party was out of power,Jones continued serving as foreign minister until 1991.
Sir David Stuart Beattie,was an Australian-born New Zealand judge who served as the 14th governor-general of New Zealand,from 1980 to 1985. During the 1984 constitutional crisis,Beattie was nearly forced to dismiss the sitting prime minister,Robert Muldoon.

Indo-Grenadians or Grenadians,who trace their roots to India,form the largest minority group in Grenada. This term is not generally recognized by Grenadians or indeed Caribbeans. They usually refer to themselves simply as Grenadian or possibly Caribbean. This group was first introduced during the second half of the 19th century when Grenada experimented with indentured labour. By the second half of the 20th century Indians were so integrated into Grenada’s society that a distinct Indian cultural identity was generally invisible. In addition,Indians were involved in every aspect of Grenadian life. Currently there are over 12,000 Grenadians of Indian and mixed-Indian descent.
The monarchy of Grenada is a system of government in which a hereditary monarch is the sovereign and head of state of Grenada. The current Grenadian monarch and head of state,since 8 September 2022,is King Charles III. As sovereign,he is the personal embodiment of the Grenadian Crown. Although the person of the sovereign is equally shared with 14 other independent countries within the Commonwealth of Nations,each country's monarchy is separate and legally distinct. As a result,the current monarch is officially titled King of Grenada and,in this capacity,he and other members of the royal family undertake public and private functions domestically and abroad as representatives of Grenada. However,the King is the only member of the royal family with any constitutional role.

Sir Emmanuel Neville Cenac is the former governor-general of Saint Lucia. He was appointed to that post in January 2018. On 28 July 2021 Cenac is reported to have signalled his intention to resign. As of 31 October,he demitted the viceregal office. He was previously best known as a Saint Lucian politician,serving as the Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1987 to 1992.

Dame Froyla Tzalam is a Belizean Mopan Maya anthropologist and community leader,who has served as the third governor-general of Belize since 27 May 2021.
Snap general elections were held in Grenada on 23 June 2022. The incumbent Prime Minister Keith Mitchell sought a sixth term. National Democratic Congress (NDC) made a return to parliament after nine years of absence,defeating the ruling party New National Party (NNP),which led to Dickon Mitchell becoming the new prime minister of Grenada. This is also the first election since 2008 where the NDC gained seats.
