The Cayman Islands is a self-governing British Overseas Territory, the largest by population, in the western Caribbean Sea. The 264-square-kilometre (102-square-mile) territory comprises the three islands of Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman, which are located to the south of Cuba and northeast of Honduras, between Jamaica and Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula. The capital city is George Town on Grand Cayman, which is the most populous of the three islands.

Cydonie Camille Mothersille is a female former track and field sprinter from the Cayman Islands. Her speciality at the beginning of her career was the 100 metres, while the 200 metres gradually became her main event. She represented her country at four Olympic Games from 1996 to 2008, six World Championships in Athletics, and three Commonwealth Games. Her greatest achievements were in the 200 m, including a bronze at the 2001 World Championships in Athletics, Commonwealth gold in 2010 and a silver at the 2003 Pan American Games. Her World Championship medal was the first ever for her nation.

Miss Universe 2006, the 55th Miss Universe pageant, was held on 23 July 2006 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California, United States. Zuleyka Rivera of Puerto Rico was crowned by Natalie Glebova of Canada at the end of the event. This is the 5th time that Puerto Rico has won Miss Universe.A record of 86 contestants competed for the title.
The Cayman Islands first competed at the Olympic Games in 1976, and has participated in each Summer Games since then, missing only the 1980 Summer Olympics by participating in the American-led boycott of the 1980 Summer Olympics. The Cayman Islands have yet to win any Olympic medals.
The 1995 Caribbean Cup was the seventh edition of the Caribbean Cup, the football championship of the Caribbean, one of the CONCACAF zones. The final stage was hosted by Jamaica and Cayman Islands.
The Cayman Islands sent a delegation to compete at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China. The Cayman Islands' appearance at the Beijing Olympics marked its ninth appearance since its debut at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal. The Cayman Islands, up to and including Beijing, have yet to medal.
Rugby union is a growing sport in the Cayman Islands. The Cayman Islands national rugby union team is ranked 62nd in the world, with 2,256 registered players.
Brett Michael Fraser is a competition swimmer and Pan American Games gold medalist from the Cayman Islands. At the 2008 Summer Olympics, Fraser and his older brother, Shaune Fraser, were two of the three flag-bearers for the Cayman Islands. He competed in the 200 m backstroke.
The 2012 CFU Club Champions’ Cup was the 14th edition of the CFU Club Championship, the annual international club football competition in the Caribbean region, held amongst clubs whose football associations are affiliated with the Caribbean Football Union (CFU). The top three teams in the tournament qualified for the 2012–13 CONCACAF Champions League.
Kemar Hyman is a Caymanian sprinter of Jamaican descent. He graduated from Florida State University with an Economic Degree. Whilst competing for Florida State University he became the 2012 ACC indoor and outdoor champion and placed third at the 2012 indoor NCAA championships. Hyman is the national record holder in the 100 and 200 metres. Kemar holds the 60m record with Olympian Kareem Streete-Thompson in 6.56 seconds

Ashleigh Jerise Shim is a Jamaican footballer who plays as a forward for the Jamaica national team. She also holds British citizenship of the Cayman Islands.
Marlene West is a Jamaican-born squash player who has represented both Jamaica and Cayman Islands at the international competitions. She initially pursued her career in swimming and water polo before switching to squash. She has competed at the Commonwealth Games on five occasions representing Jamaica and Cayman Islands in two different time intervals. She is also a four time Cayman Islands national champion in the women's singles and she is regarded as one of the best squash players to have represented Cayman Islands. She has claimed medals in international events even after the age of 40's. She achieved her highest PSA career ranking of 71 in May 2010 during the 2010 PSA World Tour.
