Chalybeothemis is a genus of dragonflies in the family Libellulidae. It contains three species native to Southeast Asia.
Species include:
Perch is a common name for freshwater fish from the genus Perca, which belongs to the family Percidae of the large order Perciformes. The name comes from Greek: πέρκη, romanized: perke, meaning the type species of this genus, the European perch.
The chasers, darters, skimmers and perchers and their relatives form the Libellulidae, the largest family of dragonflies. It is sometimes considered to contain the Corduliidae as the subfamily Corduliinae and the Macromiidae as the subfamily Macromiinae. Even if these are excluded, there remains a family of over 1000 species. With nearly worldwide distribution, these are almost certainly the most often seen of all dragonflies.
The tucuxi, alternatively known in Peru bufeo gris or bufeo negro, is a species of freshwater dolphin found in the rivers of the Amazon basin. The word tucuxi is derived from the Tupi language word tuchuchi-ana, and has now been adopted as the species' common name. Despite being found in geographic locations similar to those of 'true' river dolphins such as the boto, the tucuxi is not closely related to them genetically. Instead, it is classed in the oceanic dolphin family (Delphinidae).
The European river lamprey, also known as the river lamprey or lampern, is a species of freshwater lamprey.
Orthetrum is a large genus of dragonflies in the Libellulidae family. They are commonly referred to as skimmers.
Crocothemis is a genus of dragonflies in the Libellulidae family, subfamily Sympetrinae (darters). Various species of this genus occur in southern Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia and the Southwest Pacific. They are generally small to medium-sized dragonflies.
Theodoxus fluviatilis, common name the river nerite, is a species of small freshwater and brackish water snail with a gill and an operculum, an aquatic gastropod mollusk in the family Neritidae, the nerites.
Hylaeothemis is a genus of dragonflies in the family Libellulidae.
Tramea is a genus of dragonflies in the family Libellulidae, the skimmers and perchers. Species of Tramea are found in tropical and subtropical regions around the globe. They typically have colored bases to their otherwise translucent hindwings. In particular when they fly, this creates the impression of their carrying bags at the start of their abdomens. They are known commonly as saddlebags or saddlebags gliders.
The dolphin genus Sotalia is considered to have two member species with the classification of Sotalia guianensis as a distinct species from Sotalia fluviatilis in 2007. This was a result of recent morphometric analyses, as well as mitochondrial DNA analysis.
Orthetrum balteatum is a freshwater dragonfly species in the family Libellulidae, present in northern Australia and New Guinea. The common name for this species is speckled skimmer.
Rhyothemis braganza, known as the Iridescent flutterer, is a species of dragonfly in the family Libellulidae. The genus Rhyothemis extends from Africa to the western Pacific, with five species known in Australia. Rhyothemis braganza inhabits streams, rivers and riverine pools on, and adjacent to, the coast in Queensland, Northern Territory and northern Western Australia.
Rhodothemis lieftincki, common name Red arrow, is a species of dragonfly in the family Libellulidae. The genus Rhodothemis is found in India, south-east Asia and Australia. Rhodothemis lieftincki is the only species of the genus seen in Australia. It inhabits coastal and inland streams, rivers, lagoons and ponds in an arc around northern Australia, from about Geraldton in the west to Sydney in the east.
Lyriothemis acigastra or Little Bloodtail is a species of dragonfly in the family of Libellulidae known from India. The International Union for Conservation of Nature also cites very old collections in Burma, China and Tibet.
Cratilla is a genus of dragonflies in the family Libellulidae. They are distributed in Southeast Asia.
Chalybeothemis chini is a species of dragonflies in the family Libellulidae. It is named after the type locality - Tasek Chini. This species has so far been recorded at two sites - Tasek Chini and Kuala Tahan.
Chalybeothemis pruinosa is a species of dragonflies in the family Libellulidae.
Chalybeothemis fluviatilis is a species of dragonflies in the family Libellulidae.
Risiophlebia is a genus of dragonfly in the family Libellulidae. It contains three species, all of which are endemic to the Central Highlands of the Mondulkiri Province and some other regions of southern Vietnam.
Nannophyopsis is a genus of small-sized dragonflies in the skimmer family Libellulidae. First described by Maurits Lieftinck in 1935, it consists of two species found throughout the Indomalayan biogeographical realm.
