The Sri Lanka women's national cricket team represents Sri Lanka in international women's cricket. One of ten teams competing in the ICC Women's Championship, the team is organised by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), a full member of the International Cricket Council (ICC).
Hettimulla Appuhamilage Shashikala Dedunu Siriwardene, known as Shashikala Siriwardene, is a Sri Lankan former cricketer who captained the Sri Lankan women's cricket team in WODIs. She is the only woman cricketer to take 100 wickets in WODIs for Sri Lanka, and thus the only female Sri Lankan to combine this with 1,000+ runs. She is also the all-time leading wicket taker for Sri Lanka in WT20I with 77 scalps. She played for Sri Lanka internationally from 2003 to 2020 in a career spanning about 17 years.
The 2004 Women's One-Day Internationals Asia Cup is the inaugural edition of the Asian Cricket Council Women's One Day International cricket tournament. The two teams which took part in the tournament were India and Sri Lanka. It was held between 17 April and 29 April 2004, in Sri Lanka. The matches were played at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground and Kandy Cricket Club. India won the inaugural edition against Sri Lanka 5–0.
Atapattu Mudiyanselage Chamari Jayangani is a Sri Lankan cricketer and the current captain of the women's Twenty20 International team of Sri Lanka. Chamari was the tenth captain for Sri Lanka women's national cricket team. In November 2017, she was named the Women's Cricketer of the Year for the 2016–17 season at Sri Lanka Cricket's annual awards. She is the first Sri Lankan woman to play in franchise cricket. In November 2023, it was announced that a special dedicated seating zone at the Sydney Cricket Ground would be named after Chamari Atapattu as the Chamari Bay.
Nilakshi de Silva is a Sri Lankan cricketer. She made her One Day International debut for Sri Lanka Women against New Zealand in the ICC Champions Trophy on 3 November 2015. A right-arm slow-medium bowler, she was the leading wicket-taker for Sri Lanka in the 2018 Women's Twenty20 Asia Cup, with seven dismissals in five matches.
Hasini Perera is a Sri Lankan cricketer. She made her T20I debut against Bangladesh in April 2014 and her ODI debut against South Africa in October the same year. In October 2018, she was named in Sri Lanka's squad for the 2018 ICC Women's World Twenty20 tournament in the West Indies. In January 2020, she was named in Sri Lanka's squad for the 2020 ICC Women's T20 World Cup in Australia. In October 2021, she was named in Sri Lanka's team for the 2021 Women's Cricket World Cup Qualifier tournament in Zimbabwe. In January 2022, she was named in Sri Lanka's team for the 2022 Commonwealth Games Cricket Qualifier tournament in Malaysia. In July 2022, she was named in Sri Lanka's team for the cricket tournament at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England.
The 2017 Women's Cricket World Cup was an international women's cricket tournament that took place in England from 24 June to 23 July 2017. It was the eleventh edition of the Women's Cricket World Cup, and the third to be held in England. The 2017 World Cup was the first in which all participating players were fully professional. Eight teams qualified to participate in the tournament. England won the final against India at Lord's on 23 July by 9 runs.
Sri Lankan women's cricket team toured New Zealand in November 2015. The tour included a series of 5 ODIs and 3 T20Is. The first 3 of the 5 ODIs matches were also part of the 2014–16 ICC Women's Championship. The Sri Lanka team was announced on 8 October 2015 and the captaincy was given back to all-rounder Shashikala Siriwardene. However, on the third WODI, Siriwardene suffered a thumb fracture injury which forced her to retire from the tour and the captaincy for the remaining matches was given back to the previous captain Chamari Atapattu.
South African women's cricket team toured Sri Lanka in the beginning of 2014–15 season. The tour consisted of a series of 4 One day internationals and 3 Twenty20 internationals. First three of the four ODIs formed a part of the 2014–16 ICC Women's Championship.
Harshitha Samarawickrama is a Sri Lankan cricketer who plays for Sri Lanka's women's cricket team. She made her Twenty20 International (T20I) debut against Ireland in March 2016 and her One Day International (ODI) debut against Australia in September 2016.
Kathira Arachchige Dona Ama Kanchana is a Sri Lankan cricketer who plays for the Sri Lanka's women's cricket team. She made her One Day International (ODI) debut against South Africa on 15 October 2014.
The India women's cricket team played the Sri Lanka women's cricket team in September 2018. The tour consisted of three Women's One Day Internationals (WODIs), which formed part of the 2017–20 ICC Women's Championship, and five Women's Twenty20 International (WT20I) matches. The matches were played in Galle, Katunayake and Colombo. India Women won the WODI series 2–1, and the WT20I series 4–0, after the second match finished in a no result.
The 2018 Women's Twenty20 Asia Cup was the seventh edition of the ACC Women's Asia Cup, organized by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). It took place between 3 and 10 June 2018 in Malaysia, and was the third edition played as a 20-over tournament. The tournament was contested between Bangladesh, India, Malaysia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Thailand. India were the defending champions.
Umesha Thimashini is a Sri Lankan cricketer. In January 2019, she was named in Sri Lanka's squad for their series against South Africa. She made her Women's Twenty20 International cricket (WT20I) debut for Sri Lankan against South Africa Women on 1 February 2019. She made her Women's One Day International cricket (WT20I) debut, also against South Africa Women, on 11 February 2019.
Dilhara Polgampola is a Sri Lankan cricketer. He made his Twenty20 debut on 6 January 2020, for Sri Lanka Ports Authority Cricket Club in the 2019–20 SLC Twenty20 Tournament. He made his List A debut on 3 April 2021, for Ace Capital Cricket Club in the 2020–21 Major Clubs Limited Over Tournament.
Rajapaksha Mudiyanselage Vishmi Dewmini Gunarathne is a Sri Lankan cricketer who currently plays for Chilaw Marians Cricket Club and Sri Lanka. She plays as a right-handed batter.
Sachini Nisansala Lakshitha is a Sri Lankan cricketer. She plays as a slow left-arm orthodox bowler and a left-handed batter.
The India women's cricket team toured Sri Lanka to play against the Sri Lanka women's cricket team in June and July 2022. The tour consisted of three Women's One Day International (WODI) and three Women's Twenty20 International (WT20I) matches. The WODI matches were part of 2022–2025 ICC Women's Championship. Both teams used the matches as preparation for the women's cricket tournament at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England. Harmanpreet Kaur was named as India's new captain for the tour, after Mithali Raj announced her retirement from international cricket.
