Chandrika Roy is an Indian politician from Saran district of Bihar, India. [1] He was a Member of Bihar Legislative Assembly (2015-2020) representing Parsa (Vidhan Sabha constituency) from RJD Party. Now he is in the Janata Dal (United) Party.

Political career

Roy made entry into politics in 1985 as member of Bihar Legislative Assembly from Parsa (Vidhan Sabha constituency). Again in 1990, 1995 and 2000, he won from the same constituency. In October 2005 and 2010 Bihar Legislative Assembly elections, he lost to Chhotelal Rai. [2] He also held the position as Minister of Transport Department of Government of Bihar from 2015 to 2017. [3] [4] Currently, he is serving as Member of Bihar Legislative Assembly from Parsa (Vidhan Sabha constituency) since 2015. [5]

He quit the Rashtriya Janata Dal due to the marital dispute between his daughter and RJD president Lalu Prasad Yadav's son Tej Pratap Yadav. [6] [7]

Personal life

Chandrika Roy is the second son of the five sons of Daroga Prasad Rai. He is married to Purnima Priyadarshini and has 3 children, namely Apurva Roy, Aishwarya Roy and Aayushi Roy. Chandrika Rai's daughter Aishwarya Roy married Tej Pratap Yadav, the eldest son of Lalu Prasad Yadav on 12 May 2018. [8] [9]

Chapra Lok Sabha constituency was in Bihar and it existed until 2008, after which it was replaced by Saran constituency when delimitation was done.

Ritlal Yadav or Ritlal Ray is a leader of RJD who won the Bihar Legislative Council election in July 2015 as an independent candidate. Ritlal was in jail in connection with multiple criminal cases, including murder charges. Ritlal is accused in over 33 cases. He was a former Member of Legislative Council (MLC), the post, to which he was elected in 2016. He was incarcerated in Beur Jail until August 2020. However he was then released from the jail on bail. Ritlal Yadav defeated BJP's Asha Devi Sinha in the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections.

Mudrika Singh Yadav was a senior most leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal from Bihar. He was the Principal General Secretary of RJD. He had served in the Lalu Prasad Yadav ministry as Health minister. He was elected to Bihar Vidhan Sabha from Jehanabad in 2015 as a member of Rashtriya Janata Dal and from Kurtha as a member of Janata Dal in 1990. Yadav died on 24 October 2017 due to a head injury as well as dengue in Patna.

He left the Rashtriya Janata Dal on 20 August 2020 and same day joined Janata Dal (United) in the presence of cabinet minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav.

Uday Narayan Rai, also known as Bhola Babu and Bhola Rai, is an Indian politician from the state of Bihar. He was a member of Bihar Legislative Assembly from Raghopur and served as a state cabinet minister in the governments of Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi. He was elected as the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) three times in the Bihar Assembly elections of 1980, 1985 and 1990.

Ravindra Singh also known as Ravindra Singh Kushwaha is an Indian politician based in Bihar, who was elected to Bihar Legislative Assembly twice from Arwal Assembly constituency. Singh was a member of Janata Dal and later became a member of Rashtriya Janata Dal. He is considered as one of the close accomplice of former Bihar Chief Minister, Lalu Prasad Yadav. Singh hails from communist background and before joining politics, he was a member of armed naxalite organisations active in the Bihar's red corridor.
