Chase Austin Clement (born June 11, 1986) is a former American football quarterback. Clement played college football for Rice University, where he finished his career ranked first in school history with 9,785 passing yards and 11,526 yards total offense. He has played professionally for the Las Vegas Locomotives of the United Football League (UFL), leading the team to a championship in 2010.

College career

Clement and Rice wide receiver Jarett Dillard hold the NCAA Division I FBS record for career touchdowns between a quarterback-receiver tandem with 51. [1] He also broke Conference USA passing records. He earned second-team All-Conference USA honors in 2007 after completing 59.1 percent of his passes for 3,377 yards with 29 touchdowns and 16 interceptions. Those numbers only improved in his first-team all-conference senior season: 66.5 percent for 4,119 yards, 44 touchdowns and seven interceptions. In his senior year, Clement earned the C-USA MVP honors and lead the Owls to their second bowl game in the last three years winning the 2008 Texas Bowl, he was named the MVP of the game. [2] Clement finished his college career with 125 career touchdowns (99 pass, 25 rush and one receiving). He is in second place on the C-USA lists for career touchdowns and touchdown passes behind Case Keenum (178 and 155). Clement tied former Heisman Trophy winner Matt Leinart on the NCAA career touchdown pass list with 99. [3]

Professional career

Clement was a prospect for the 2009 NFL Draft but he went undrafted. [4]

Hamilton Tiger-Cats

He was signed by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League (CFL) on June 2, 2009, [5] but retired on June 6, after one preseason practice. [6]

Las Vegas Locomotives

Clement was later signed by the Las Vegas Locomotives of the UFL. On November 6, Clement got his first action at quarterback. When the Locos were trailing the Sacramento Mountain Lions 21–0 at the half, head coach Jim Fassel benched starter Drew Willy and started Clement for the second half. Clement would lead a sensational comeback attempt, tying the game at 24 by leading the Locos to scores on his first four drives while scoring two rushing touchdowns. Sacramento would end up winning the game 27–24.

Clement led the Locomotives to a 23–20 victory over the Florida Tuskers in the second UFL championship game, and won the game MVP award. Clement also led the Locomotives to the third UFL championship game, losing 34–17 to the Virginia Destroyers.

Houston Texans

The Houston Texans worked out Clement on November 21, 2011 to help with the team's quarterback situation after season-ending injuries to Matt Schaub and Matt Leinart.

Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jacksonville Jaguars worked out Clement in early January 2012.

San Francisco 49ers

Clement worked out with the San Francisco 49ers on March 19, 2012.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the CFL worked out Clement in March 2013. He signed with the team on April 8. Winnipeg released him during final roster cuts on June 22. [7]

Dallas Cowboys

Clement worked out with the Dallas Cowboys on July 16, 2013.

Allen retired as professional football's all-time leading passer with 72,381 passing yards after he surpassed Warren Moon's total of 70,553 yards on September 4, 2006 in the annual Labour Day Classic. He also retired in third place in all-time CFL rushing yards with 11,920 yards, behind Mike Pringle and George Reed. The 2007 season marked Allen's twenty-third season in the CFL and he officially announced his retirement on May 28, 2008 at age 44. Allen is the younger brother of Pro Football Hall of Famer Marcus Allen.

2009 UFL Championship Game American football game

The 2009 UFL Championship Game was the concluding game of the United Football League's inaugural season. The game was staged at Sam Boyd Stadium in Whitney, Nevada on Friday, November 27, 2009, and was won by the Las Vegas Locomotives, who defeated the previously unbeaten Florida Tuskers 20–17 on a 33-yard field goal in overtime.

2010 UFL Championship Game

The 2010 UFL Championship Game was the concluding game of the United Football League's 2010 season. The game was staged at Johnny Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha, Nebraska on Saturday, November 27, 2010, and saw the Las Vegas Locomotives repeat as league champions, defeating the Florida Tuskers by a 23–20 score.

The 2011 UFL Championship Game was the third championship game of the United Football League and took place on October 21, 2011, the concluding weekend of the league's truncated third season. The game was won by the Virginia Destroyers, who, in front of a standing-room-only home crowd at Virginia Beach Sportsplex, defeated the two-time defending champion Las Vegas Locomotives 17–3, spurred by the performance of strong safety and game MVP Aaron Rouse. The win gave Destroyers coach Marty Schottenheimer, notorious for his failure to reach the Super Bowl in his NFL coaching career despite strong regular season statistics, his first and only championship as a professional head coach and his first professional championship since the 1965 American Football League Championship Game, Schottenheimer's rookie season as a player.

James Franklin (quarterback) American gridiron football player (born 1991)

James Franklin is an American former professional Canadian football quarterback. He played college football at Missouri. He was the Tigers' starting quarterback from 2011 to 2013. He was also a member of the Detroit Lions, Edmonton Eskimos, Toronto Argonauts, and Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Johnny Manziel American football player (born 1992)

Johnathan Paul Manziel is an American football quarterback for the FCF Zappers of Fan Controlled Football (FCF). He played two seasons with the Cleveland Browns of the National Football League (NFL) and was also a member of the Canadian Football League's (CFL) Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Montreal Alouettes in 2018 and the Alliance of American Football's (AAF) Memphis Express in 2019.

Logan Kilgore is a former quarterback with the Canadian Football League from 2015 to 2019. Kilgore made his professional debut in 2016 for the Toronto Argonauts and remained with the Argonauts until 2017. He also spent a year each with the Hamilton Tiger Cats and Edmonton Eskimos. After ending his CFL career in 2019, Kilgore accumulated 2,010 yards and 11 touchdowns.
