Chatledo Eidi (English: Gone With A Heavy Heart) is a 2000 Indian Meitei language film directed and produced by Makhonmani Mongsaba [1] under the banner of Sangai Films. [2] [3] [4] It is based on the famous radio play Chatledo Eidi Meigee Ching Puduna by Moirangthem Inao. [5] [6] The film was selected for Indian Panorama of the 32nd International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2001. Synopsis

Sheilesh and Sandhyarani's love affair begins on a rainy day through a mutual friend Radharani. Both the lovebirds face harsh realities of life in differing ways. Sheilesh looks for new jobs and opportunities but the prevailing system of corruption never stands in favour of a simpleton like him. Sandhyarani lives under a roof where her sister-in-law becomes the main reason for their family's harmony to be constantly disturbed. Despite all the obstacles their lives have to offer, Sheilesh and Sandhyarani strive hard for a shared future. Unfortunately, they part ways and Sandhyarani leaves her paternal home with a heavy heart.

The movie won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Manipuri at the 48th National Film Awards. The citation for the National Award reads, "For narrating a complex love story in a simple manner and reflects the flavour of the land beautifully". [12] [13]

The film won the Best Feature Film and Best Director Awards at the 5th Manipur State Film Festival. [14]

It was processed at Prasad Laboratory, Chennai.

Matamgi Manipur is a 1972 Indian Meitei language film and the first full-length cinema of Manipur. The movie is directed by Debkumar Bose and produced by Karam Monomohan, under the banner of K.T. Films Private Limited. The black and white film features Gurumayum Ravindra Sharma and Yengkhom Roma in the lead roles. Arambam Samarendra wrote the story and screenplay by Debkumar Bose. The film won the President's Medal at the 20th National Film Awards. It is an adaptation of Arambam Samarendra's theatrical play Tīrtha Yātrā.

Romi Meitei is an Indian film director and lyricist who works in Manipuri films. He is a recipient of several awards at several film festivals organised in India and abroad and has directed movies for around two decades. Thoiba Thoibi, Inga Nonglakta, Manithoiba, Natephamda Tero, Chumthang Makhong, Mikithi and Dharmagi Mingda Imagidamak are some of the well-known movies he directed.

Makhonmani Mongsaba is an Indian author, actor, producer and director from Imphal, Manipur. He got his doctorate degree in Manipuri from Manipur University. In 2013, he won the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Award for his book Chinglon Amadagi Amada, a travelogue. He published the book Matamgi Manipur:The First Manipuri Feature Film by Bobby Wahengbam under the name Angomningthou Preservation and Documentation. It won the Best Book on Cinema at the 65th National Film Awards 2018 and both the writer and the publisher received the Swarna Kamal award.

Lammei is a 2002 Indian Meitei language film directed by Oken Amakcham and produced by Premjit Naoroibam and Anita Naoroibam, under the banner of Kangla Films. Denny Likmabam and Prameshwori played lead roles in the movie. The movie was made after conducting the Winter Film Workshop by Kangla Films at Hotel Excellency, Imphal. It was released formally by the titular king of Manipur, Leishemba Sanajaoba, on 5 May 2002 and started its regular theatrical run at Friends Talkies, Paona Bazar on 22 May 2002. It is the first Manipuri video film to have a commercial screening at a theatre. Lammei also marked the beginning of a digital era in Manipuri cinema.

Sanabi is a 1995 Indian Meitei language film written by M. K. Binodini Devi and directed by Aribam Syam Sharma. The movie stars Haorongbam Deben and R.K. Sushila in the lead roles. It is jointly produced by Doordarshan and National Film Development Corporation (NFDC). The film won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Manipuri at the 43rd National Film Awards. Sanabi got selection at the International Film Festival of India, 1996 and Cairo International Film Festival, Egypt, 1996.

Sanakeithel is a 1983 Indian Meitei language film directed by Maibam Amuthoi Singh and produced by Thoudam Doren, under the banner of ATB Films International. The movie stars A. Memi and Master Tony in the lead roles. The film won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Manipuri at the 31st National Film Awards.

Mayophygee Macha is a 1994 Indian Meitei language film written by M. K. Binodini Devi and directed by Oken Amakcham. R.S. Joycee and Makhonmani Mongsaba were cast in the lead roles. Moirangthem Inao is a noted Indian playwright, lyricist, producer and director from Imphal, Manipur. He has scripted around 90 plays and most of them are popular radio plays aired on All India Radio, Imphal. Inao has also directed famous Manipuri movies like Nongallabasu Thaballei Manam and Laang. The dialogues from his radio plays have a unique charm and are famous among the radio play lovers of Manipur.

Bangladeshki Sana Tampha is a 2020 multi-starrer Indian Meitei language film directed by OC Meira and produced by Rakesh Naorem and Ibungohal Shyamal, under the banner of Ipak Films. Portraying the lifestyle of Meiteis in Bangladesh, the film stars Gurumayum Bonny, Abenao Elangbam, Bala Tensubam, Narmada Sougaijam, Gepelina Mayanglambam and Ashok Seleibam in the lead roles. The movie was released at Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS) on 25 January 2020.

<i>Brojendragee Luhongba</i> 1973 Indian film

Brojendragee Luhongba is a 1973 black and white Indian Meitei language film produced and directed by S.N. Chand, the first filmmaker of Manipur. It stars S.N. Chand and Y. Ramola Devi in lead roles. It is based on Lamabam Kamal's short story of the same title. S.N. Chand underwent cosmetic surgery for the film. Principal photography began in 1971 and the film got CBFC certification on 30 December 1972. The movie was released at Usha Cinema, Paona Bazar on 26 January 1973. The digitalised version (4K) of the film was screened at MSFDS, Imphal on 29 April 2022 as a part of the Golden Jubilee Celebration of Manipuri Cinema.

She is the first transgender to win the "Best Actor Award" in the 14th Manipur State Film Awards, 2022. The Manung Kangjeibung is an old polo field located to the south west of the citadel inside the Kangla Fort in Imphal West district of Manipur. In ancient times, only royalties and nobilities were allowed to play the game of polo in this royal playground. It is one of the two most ancient pologrounds in the world, the other one being the Mapal Kangjeibung .
