Che Zakaria bin Mohd Salleh is a Malaysian politician who served as Member of the Johor State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Permas from May 2018 to March 2022. He is a member of the National Trust Party (AMANAH),a component party of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition. He was a member of the Malaysian United Indigenous Party (BERSATU),a component party of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition and formerly PH coalition. He also served as the Chairman of Southeast Johor Development Authority (KEJORA) from May 2020 to April 2022 and also member of Board of Director of Johor Port. [1]
Che Zakaria was nominated by BERSATU,then a component party of the PH opposition coalition to contest the Permas state seat in the 2018 Johor state election by challenging Mohamed Khaled Nordin,then Menteri Besar of Johor and Permas MLA. He defeated Khaled Nordin and replaced him as the new Permas MLA,the victory by Che Zakaria is considered one of the biggest surprises in the election as a Menteri Besar,the head of state government of Johor and highest-ranking politician in Johor is usually hard to be defeated in any elections given that Menteri Besar usually has higher popularity than the challenger.
However,Che Zakaria was neither renominated by BERSATU,then a component party of PN after it left PH in February 2020,nor by any other political parties or coalitions,to contest in the 2022 Johor state election. His seat was then won by another candidate namely Baharudin Mohamed Taib from the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO),a component party of the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition and Che Zakaria handed over the position of Permas MLA to the winner Baharudin.
On 23 July 2022,Che Zakaria announced his departure from BERSATU and joining of AMANAH. He cited the difficulties to serve the people as a BERSATU member. He also hinted that two other BERSATU former Johor MLAs,including a former member of the Johor State Executive Council (EXCO) were also expected to do the same as him. AMANAH deputy president Salahuddin Ayub noted that Che Zakaria did so willingly,sincerely and timely without any other motives and expectations other than agreeing with the principles and ideologies of AMANAH as he did not do so before the nomination day of the 2022 Johor state election on 26 February 2022 merely to secure a nomination from AMANAH to attempt to carry on his political career as an MLA after he was denied a nomination by his former party BERSATU. Salahuddin also revealed that the role Che Zakaria would play in Johor AMANAH was going to be refined not long after. [2]

Mohamed Khaled bin Nordin is a Malaysian politician who has served as the Minister of Defence since December 2023 and previously served as the Minister of Higher Education for the second term from December 2022 to December 2023 in the Unity Government administration under Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. He had previously served as Deputy Minister of Works,Minister of Entrepreneur and Co-operatives Development and his first term as Minister of Higher Education in the Barisan Nasional (BN) administration under former Prime Ministers Mahathir Mohamad,Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and Najib Razak from 1999 to 2013. Additionally,he served as the 15th Menteri Besar of Johor after he contested and became a Member of the Johor State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Permas from May 2013 to May 2018. Throughout his political career,he has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for 3 different Johorean federal constituencies,which are Johor Bahru from October 1990 to March 2004,Pasir Gudang from March 2004 to May 2013 and currently for Kota Tinggi since November 2022. He is a member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO),a component party of the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition. He has served as a Vice President of UMNO since June 2018 and had also served as the State Chairman of UMNO of Johor from January to December 2023.
Dato' Haji Phahrolrazi bin Haji Mohd Zawawi is a Malaysian politician who served as Member of the Kedah State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Alor Mengkudu from May 2018 to August 2023 and for Pengkalan Kundor from March 2008 to May 2018 as well as from December 1999 to March 2004,Leader of the Opposition of Kedah from July 2020 to October 2022 and Member of the Kedah State Executive Council (EXCO) in the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) state administration under former Menteri Besar Azizan Abdul Razak from March 2009 to February 2012. He is a member of the People's Justice Party (PKR),a component party of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition and was an independent,a member of the National Trust Party (AMANAH),also a component party of the PH coalition and a member of the Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS),a former component party of the PR coalition. He also served as State Chairman of AMANAH of Kedah from November 2019 to his removal from the party in October 2022. He was also the State Deputy Chairman of AMANAH of Kedah and State Deputy Commissioner of PAS of Kedah.
The Alliance of Hope is a Malaysian political coalition consisting of centre-left political parties which was formed in 2015 to succeed the Pakatan Rakyat coalition. It has been part of a "Unity Government" since November 2022 together with other political coalitions and parties as a result of the 2022 Malaysian general election,and previously for 22 months after it had won the 2018 Malaysian general election until February 2020 when it lost power as a result of the 2020 Malaysian political crisis at the federal level. The coalition deposed the Barisan Nasional coalition government during the 2018 election,ending its 60-year-long reign since independence.

Dato' Dr. Sahruddin bin Jamal is a Malaysian politician and doctor who has served as Member of the Johor State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Bukit Kepong since May 2018. He served as the 17th Menteri Besar of Johor from April 2019 to the collapse of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) state administration in February 2020 and Member of the Johor State Executive Council (EXCO) in the PH state administration under former Menteri Besar Osman Sapian from May 2018 to his promotion to the Menteri Besarship in April 2019 as well as Chairman of the Malaysian Pineapple Industry Board (MPIB) from May 2020 to December 2022. He is a member of the Malaysian United Indigenous Party (BERSATU),a component party of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) and formerly PH coalitions. He is also the shortest-serving Menteri Besar of Johor in the history of the Johor after serving in the position for only 321 days.
The 2020–2022 Malaysian political crisis was triggered after several Members of Parliament (MPs) of the 14th Malaysian Parliament changed party support,leading to the loss of a parliamentary majority,the collapse of two successive coalition governments,and the resignation of two Prime Ministers. The political crisis culminated in a 2022 snap general election and eventual formation of a coalition government.

Mohd Firdaus bin Ahmad is a Malaysian politician who served as Member of the Kedah State Executive Council (EXCO) in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) state administration under former Menteri Besar Mukhriz Mahathir from May 2018 to the collapse of the PH state administration in May 2020 and in the Perikatan Nasional (PN) state administration under Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor from May 2020 to August 2023 as well as Member of the Kedah State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Kuah from May 2018 to August 2023. A by-election was held on 29 August 2020 for the seat of Slim in the Perak State Legislative Assembly. The seat fell vacant following the sudden death of the incumbent Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) of the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition,Mohd. Khusairi Abdul Talib,59,due to a heart attack on 15 July 2020. He had held the seat for four terms since 2004.

Mohammad Azmir Azizan is a Malaysian politician and school administrator who has served as Member of the Perlis State Executive Council (EXCO) in the Perikatan Nasional (PN) state administration under Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli as well as Member of the Perlis State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Santan since November 2022. He is a member of the Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS),a component party of the PN coalition.
