Chelgard (Persian : چلگرد‎, also Romanized as Chelgerd)^[2] is a city and capital of Kuhrang County, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 2,708, in 539 families.^[3]

Persian, also known by its endonym Farsi, is one of the Western Iranian languages within the Indo-Iranian branch of the Indo-European language family. It is primarily spoken in Iran, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and some other regions which historically were Persianate societies and considered part of Greater Iran. It is written right to left in the Persian alphabet, a modified variant of the Arabic script.

Kuhrang County is a county in Chaharmahal-o-Bakhtiari Province in central Iran. It is located to the west of the nation's capital Tehran, in the northwest of the province. The capital of the county is Chelgard. At the 2006 census, the county's population was 33,468, in 5,980 families.

Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province is one of the 31 provinces of Iran. It lies in the southwestern part of the country. Its capital is Shahr-e Kord.
