Chetwynd Aston and Woodcote is a civil parish in Telford and Wrekin unitary area, in the ceremonial county of Shropshire, England. It is south of Newport, and about 6 miles (10km) north east of Telford. The A41 road runs north-south through the parish, and the A518 road roughly forms its northern boundary, with some overlap. The eastern boundary of the parish forms the boundary between Shropshire and Staffordshire. [1]

The parish includes the village of Chetwynd Aston and the hamlets of Woodcote, Pave Lane, Lynn and Stockton. [2] In 2021 the parish had a population of 674. [3]

It has a parish council, the lowest level of local government in England. [4]

History

In John Wilson's 1870-72 Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales , Chetwynd Aston is described as "a township in Edgmond parish" [5] and Woodcote as "a chapelry in Sherriff-Hales parish". [6]

On 1 April 1988 the parish of Woodcote was merged with Chetwynd Aston, and on 2 November 1988 the merged parish was renamed to "Chetwynd Aston and Woodcote". [7]

Longford is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Church Aston, in the Telford and Wrekin district, in the ceremonial county of Shropshire, England. It is near the town of Newport. In 1961 the parish had a population of 102. On 1 April 1988 the parish was abolished and merged with Church Aston. Roman coins and medieval artifacts have been discovered in the village and it was listed in Domesday Book in 1086 with a population of 23 households, 13.5 plough lands and a mill. The historic manor covers 1,306 acres and includes the townships of Brockton and Stockton. Sites of historic importance include: Longford Hall, a late 16th-century dovecote, Church of St Mary, 13th century Talbot Chapel, remains of a mill race and several farm buildings.

Pave Lane is a hamlet in Shropshire, England, 2 miles (3.2 km) south of Newport, just outside the small village of Chetwynd Aston in the civil parish of Chetwynd Aston and Woodcote. It has numerous large houses, many of which have been built in a Duke of Sutherland-inspired architectural style. Residents have excellent views of the Shropshire countryside and are in close proximity to Lilleshall Hall.

Chetwynd Aston and Woodcote is a civil parish in the district of Telford and Wrekin, Shropshire, England. It contains 13 listed buildings that are recorded in the National Heritage List for England. Of these, one is listed at Grade II*, the middle of the three grades, and the others are at Grade II, the lowest grade. The parish contains the villages of Chetwynd Aston and Woodcote. In the parish is the country house of Woodcote Hall; this, structures associated with it, and the nearby church and churchyard wall are listed. The other listed buildings are houses, farmhouses, and a gateway.

Beveley is a former hamlet straddling the boundaries of Ketley and Oakengates in the Telford and Wrekin borough in Shropshire, England. It is located to the northeast of Ketley and close to Hadley Manor and Red Lake. Nearby places include the towns of Oakengates, Telford and Wellington. and the villages and areas of Hadley and Wombridge. The area is predominantly residential and close to the Wolverhampton–Shrewsbury line and woodlands. Part of the former Roman road Watling Street passes through the centre of Beveley. Although, this is now mostly bypassed by the nearby M54 motorway between Wellington and Shrewsbury.
