Children in Need 2005 was a campaign held in the United Kingdom to raise money for the charity Children in Need. It culminated in a live broadcast on BBC One on the evening of Friday 18 November and was hosted by Terry Wogan, Fearne Cotton, Natasha Kaplinsky and, from RAF Brize Norton, Matt Allwright. The voice over was Alan Dedicoat. A total of £17,235,256 was raised by the closing minute.
According to the Broadcasters' Audience Research Board (BARB), overnight ratings suggested that 10.7 million viewers were tuned into BBC One from 9.00pm to 9.15pm (a 45.1% audience share), the slot in which the Doctor Who mini-episode was broadcast in most regions. This represented the highest ratings that Children in Need had received in eight years.
Also appearing were Status Quo, Westlife (live from Belfast), Sugababes (live from Wrexham), Rod Stewart, [1] Craig David, Bryan Adams and Melanie C, and Katherine Jenkins and G4 and ZOO. [2]
Liberty X recorded the official single for 2005's appeal. The band recorded a cover of Shalamar's 1982 song "A Night to Remember" for the charity. The single peaked at Number 6 on the UK singles chart.

Sir Michael Terence Wogan was an Irish-British radio and television broadcaster who worked for the BBC in the UK for most of his career. Between 1993 and his semi-retirement in December 2009, his BBC Radio 2 weekday breakfast programme Wake Up to Wogan regularly drew an estimated eight million listeners. He was believed to be the most listened-to radio broadcaster in Europe.
Top of the Pops Reloaded, is a weekly children's music show broadcast as part of the Saturday morning CBBC schedule on BBC Two. It was based on the show, Top of the Pops, and was originally known as Top of the Pops Saturday from 2002 to 2005.
Sport Relief was a biennial charity event from Comic Relief, in association with BBC Sport, established in 2002.
The United Kingdom participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 with the song "Flying the Flag " written by Russ Spencer, Morten Schjolin, Andrew Hill and Paul Tarry. The song was performed by the group Scooch. The British entry for the 2007 contest in Helsinki, Finland was selected via the national final Eurovision: Making Your Mind Up 2007, organised by the British broadcaster BBC. Six acts competed in the national final and the winner was selected through two rounds of public televoting.
Concert for Diana was a benefit concert held at the newly built Wembley Stadium in London, United Kingdom in honour of Diana, Princess of Wales, on 1 July 2007, which would have been her 46th birthday. 31 August that year brought the 10th anniversary of her death. The concert was hosted by Diana's sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, who helped to organise many of the world's most famous entertainers and singers to perform. Proceeds from the concert went to Diana's charities, as well as to charities of which William and Harry are patrons.

The broadcast was hosted by Terry Wogan and Fearne Cotton, joined by other guest presenters throughout the night. The voice over reading out hourly totals was Alan Dedicoat. The event broke all previous records with a total of £19,089,771 raised by the closing minute. The show's average audience was 9.56 million, a huge amount higher than the previous year's event.

Fearne Wood is an English broadcaster and author. She began her career in the late 1990s presenting various children's television shows for GMTV, CITV and CBBC. From 2002 to 2021, Cotton was a regular presenter on the BBC One music show Top of the Pops. In 2006, she co-presented the reality show Love Island, and the following year, she presented The Xtra Factor, an ITV2 spin-off from the main show. She has also co-presented some of the Red Nose Day and Children in Need telethons. From 2008 to 2018, Cotton was a team captain on the ITV2 comedy panel show Celebrity Juice.
Fearne Cotton was a British weekday radio show on BBC Radio 1, hosted by Fearne Cotton. The programme was on air from 21 September 2009 until 22 May 2015, when Fearne left the station. It was broadcast each morning from 10:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., and on Bank Holidays from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The show focused on playing and interviewing new bands and styles of music.

Children in Need 2010 was a campaign held in the United Kingdom to raise money for Children in Need. 2010 marked the 30th anniversary of the appeal which culminated in a live broadcast on BBC One and ITV1 which began on the evening of Friday 19 November and ran until the early hours of Saturday 20th. The broadcast was hosted by Terry Wogan, with Tess Daly from 7 pm until 10 pm and Fearne Cotton from 10:35 pm until 2 am. Peter Andre hosted from the BT Tower. The show was broadcast from BBC Television Centre in London but also included regional opt-outs hosted from various locations around the UK including Cardiff and Glasgow, viewers in Northern Ireland could see the whole show Live from London for the first time instead of having their own opt out as in previous years instead the Northern Ireland concert was broadcast live on BBC Radio Ulster and highlights on BBC One Northern Ireland the next day with Reggie Yates and John Daly. They returned to Belfast every so often to show fundraising from Northern Ireland but it wasn't a Live broadcast as in previous years. In 2010 contributions fell short of the previous year's fund-raising total. The 2010 event raised £18,098,199 compared to £20,309,747 in 2009.

The show was broadcast from the BBC in Elstree but also includes regular regional opt-outs. The 2013 appeal marked the first Children in Need broadcast from BBC Elstree Centre after the closing down of the show's previous home Television Centre. Its new studio, adjacent to the set of EastEnders enabled the show to include live segments and performances from the fictional Albert Square including star interviews in The Queen Victoria Pub hosted by cast member Shane Richie.

Shane Richie hosted the period the show was broadcasting on BBC Two. The show was broadcast from the BBC in Elstree but also includes regular regional opt-outs. Wogan did, however, appear in a pre-filmed Sketch and provided a documentary voice over, but was unable to present the live section of the fundraiser due to ill health, which was to be for the first and only time since its launch in 1980. Wogan died in January 2016, making Children in Need 2014 his last appearance as host.

It was the first edition of the televised campaign since original presenter Terry Wogan's death in January 2016.
