Chop Socky Boom is a comedy web series created by Darlene Sellers and Heath Ward and filmed in Seattle, Washington. The series is broadcast on the internet and premiered on May 1, 2012. Season one includes eight episodes, with season two currently under development. Chop Socky Boom follows the adventures of misfit indie film actors cast in the fictional kung fu film, “Final Zodiac Warrior.” CSB focuses on main character Khanh and her friends, Scottie, Paige, Daisy and Max, as they audition for a poorly run chop socky series created by Trick, an Ed Wood like Director with his own unique vision. History

Chop Socky Boom was created by Sellers and Ward as a tribute to the adventures and misadventures of Seattle indie filmmaking. [4] The first season was funded in part through a crowdfunding campaign [5] and from a small grant awarded by 4Culture. [6] In May, 2012 CSB premiered on YouTube [7] and the Web Series Channel [8] and was featured by Zombie Orpheus Entertainment (ZOE), a distribution company created by Dead Gentlemen Productions. [9] In 2014, CSB was picked up for distribution by Frostbite Pictures [10] and is currently available on JTS.TV. [11]

Plot

Khanh is a talented, Seattle actress working hard to find her big break. She and eleven other local actors are cast in a new action show, “Final Zodiac Warrior.” FZW is a cross between Enter the Dragon and Highlander and features twelve warriors based on the Chinese zodiac. Portraying the signs of Rat, Pig, Rabbit, Rooster and Dragon, Khanh and her friends survive the indie film making process, all the while doing battle with their own individual demons. Be it mistreatment from their fabulous and beautiful cast member counterparts, ambiguous direction from the director Trick, or even the threat of looming unemployment at the day job, the misfits boldly fight the demons. Production

Principal photography takes place in Seattle, Washington. Locations include Kubota Gardens, the Seattle Chinatown-International District, Hing Hay Park (Seattle), the University District, White Center, Washington, Jet City Improv, and Victory Studios. [13]

In 2014, the Seattle True Independent Film Festival named CSB the “Best Web Series" of the Festival. [14] CSB has also received five Indie Fest Awards including Merit in Webseries, Directing, Writing and Editing, [15] four Accolade Awards including Merit in Webisodes, Lead Actress and Choreography, [16] three Best Shorts Competition Awards including Merit in Original score, Ensemble cast and Web Series, [17] and five LA Web Fest 2013 Comedy awards including Outstanding Direction, Achievement in Sound, Outstanding Theme Song by Composer Matt Sayre, Outstanding Lead Actress Khanh Doan, and Outstanding Ensemble Cast. [18] In 2015, CSB Production Designers Cherelle Ashby and Jonelle Cornwall were nominated for the 6th Indie Series Awards. [19] CSB has also screened at the Raindance Film Festival as part of the London Webfest, [20] Seattle Asian American Film Festival, [21] Indie Film Quarterly Film Festival, [22] the Seattle International Film Festival Catalyst Program, [23] Emerald City Comicon, [24] Hollyweb Festival, [25] Vancouver Web Festival, [26] Austin Webfest, Gen Con Indy, [27] and KOMO-TV. The show can be found distributed across the web including on Blip and YouTube. The Bloody Mary Show follows a group of unconventional ghouls, who can be summoned from the afterlife by the living or are sent to haunt them. The show focuses on main character Bloody Mary and her friends, Abdabs, Malevolent and Viscera, as they spend their days haunting the living, sharing their experiences and drinking at an underworld bar called Hemingway's, which was filmed in the oldest pub on the River Thames, The Mayflower.

Noirhouse is an Australian dark comedy indie web series, starring Melanie Irons, Nathan Spencer and Mick Davies. It plays on film-noir archetypes, featuring three main characters - a shady detective, femme fatale and Russian mobster. It premiered in September 2013 with an early screening at the Peacock Threater in Hobart, before beginning broadcast on its own website for a 3 episode first series. It was picked up by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation for a six episode second season to be released on its iView broadcasting platform, to begin running in November 2014. It was originally funded by Screen Tasmania and Screen Australia.

How to Buy a Baby is a Canadian comedy web series, which premiered in November 2017 on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's web platform and on YouTube. Created by Wendy Litner and based on her own experiences having to pursue fertility treatment to conceive a pregnancy, the series stars Meghan Heffern and Marc Bendavid as Jane and Charlie, a couple going through the fertility treatment process.

Holly Melissa Shervey, is a television and film actress and writer. She is an Australian-born New Zealander.
