City TV was a Singaporean English and later Mandarin language free-to-air television channel. The channel was Mediacorp's short-lived foray into the creation of a sports channel.

History

SportsCity was launched by the Television Corporation of Singapore on January 30, 2000 and was considered to be an alternative to sports on cableref name="Television Regulation and Civil Society in Asia">Philip Kitley. Television Regulation and Civil Society in Asia.</ref>. The channel was touted as being the first free-to-air sports channel in the ASEAN region.

Television Corporation of Singapore was a Singaporean television broadcasting entity. It was launched on 1 October 1994 and dissolved on 11 February 2001. It was composed of three autonomous divisions. TCS subsequently underwent a group restructuring of subsidiaries by Singapore International Media on 12 February 2001 to becoming MediaCorp TV.

Declining ratings led to the channel being reformatted as City TV. The new channel was launched by Mediacorp on the same frequency on May 14, 2001 [1] . The channel added Mandarin-language programming on weekday afternoons and evenings and sports were shown after 10:30pm and all day on weekends.

Mediacorp Pte. Ltd. is a Singaporean commercial broadcasting conglomerate. It holds interests in radio, television and digital content creation. It runs 6 television channels and 11 radio stations, making it the largest media business in Singapore; it holds a monopoly on free-to-air television in Singapore. It is owned by Temasek Holdings, a state-owned investment arm.

Television in Singapore began on 15 February 1963. The public broadcaster, MediaCorp TV, has a monopoly on terrestrial television channels and is fully owned by government holding company Temasek Holdings. Local pay TV operators are StarHub TV and Singtel TV. The private ownership of satellite dishes is banned.

Channel 5 (Singapore) English television channel in Singapore

Channel 5 is a 24-hour Singapore English free-to-air nationwide terrestrial television channel. Its programming mainly consists of English language dramas, movies, sports, reality show, variety show, news, current affairs and game shows. Singapore Broadcasting Corporation

KTSF, virtual channel 26, is an independent Asian television station licensed to San Francisco, California, United States, and serving the San Francisco Bay Area. The station is owned by Lincoln Broadcasting Company. KTSF's studios are located on Valley Drive in south suburban Brisbane, and it shares transmitter facilities with Univision owned-and-operated station KDTV-DT atop Mount Allison. Until May 7, 2018, KTSF's transmitter was located atop San Bruno Mountain. On cable, the station is carried on channel 8 on most providers in the market.

Star Movies Television channel

Star Movies is an Indian pay television network owned by Star TV. It was originally launched as a single channel broadcast across Asia, but it was regionalised into different localised channels since then. Fox Networks Group Asia Pacific have since rebranded some of the network's international feeds in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Southeast Asia as Fox Movies, but retains the Star Movies brand in Mainland China. Star India continues to operate the Indian feed of the network as a channel specialised in Western films, while the Middle Eastern feed, operated by The Walt Disney Company EMEA, co-exists with Fox Movies.

World TV

World TV is a New Zealand television, radio and print media company specialising in media for Asian migrants and Asian language communities. It operates eleven specialist television channels and publishes a national-circulation magazine for subscribers of its five Sky TV digital television packages. He has over a decade of experience in hosting TV, as well as being a former radio DJ, and writing books regarding topics such as culture, youth and psychology. He is also a World Vision goodwill ambassador in Singapore. In the year 2010, he was nominated for the "Best Director" award in The Straits Times' theatre awards.
