Clay Yarborough (born February 6,1981) is an American politician who has served in the Florida Senate from the 4th district since 2022. A member of the Republican Party,he served in the Florida House of Representatives from the 12th district from 2016 to 2022 and on the Jacksonville City Council from the 1st district from 2007 to 2015. In March 2023,Yarborough introduced Florida Senate Bill 254 into the Florida Senate,which would grant the state of Florida "temporary emergency jurisdiction" over children "subjected to" or "threatened with being subjected to sex-reassignment prescriptions or procedures". [3] The bill was met with strong disapproval from the ACLU,which said it was "designed to silence,harm,and erase trans people in Florida",and would "directly threaten transgender Floridians’fundamental human rights and safety". [4] The bill passed through the Florida Senate and Florida House of Representatives in April 2023. [3]
Michael Keith Simpson is an American politician serving as the U.S. representative for Idaho's 2nd congressional district since 1999. The district covers most of the eastern portion of the state,including Idaho Falls,Pocatello,Sun Valley,Twin Falls and the northern two-thirds of Boise. A member of the Republican Party,Simpson was first elected to public office in 1984,and was elected to the House in the 1998 elections,succeeding Mike Crapo. The Tennessee Democratic Party (TNDP) is the affiliate of the Democratic Party in Tennessee. The party was founded in 1826 initially as the Jacksonian Party. The Tennessee Democratic Party was born out of President Andrew Jackson's populist philosophy of Jacksonian democracy in the mid to late-1820s. After Jackson left office,the Democratic Party struggled in the state as the Whig Party would go on to be the dominant party in Tennessee until its collapse after the 1852 Election. Prior to the Civil War,as a result of the collapse of the former Whig Party,the Democratic Party became the dominant party in the state. After the war ended,the Republican Party would be the dominant political party during Reconstruction,but once Reconstruction ended,the Democratic Party would dominate Tennessee Politics up until 2011 when the Republican Party would gain firm control of Tennessee State Government.
Dennis K. Baxley is a state legislator in Florida who served in the Florida Senate from 2016 to 2024. A Republican,he represents the 12th district including Sumter County and parts of Lake County and Marion County in Central Florida. He previously served in the Florida House of Representatives,representing parts of Marion County from 2000 to 2007 and again from 2010 until his election to the Senate in 2016. Florida Senate Bill 254 is a law that prohibits gender-affirming care for anyone under the age of 18,places restrictions on adult patients accessing this care,and allows the state to take temporary custody of children who may be receiving gender-affirming care now or in the future. In June 2024,a judge permanently blocked the law from taking effect. In August 2024,the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals stayed the permanent injunction while the matter is appealed.
