Florida State Road 823 (SR 823) is a 20.6-mile (33.2 km) long state highway in the U.S. state of Florida. The road runs from U.S. Route 27 in Hialeah to Interstate 595 and SR 84 in Davie. The section in Miami-Dade County,through Hialeah and Miami Lakes,is known as Red Road. In Broward County,the road turns northwest and merges into Flamingo Road, until its terminus in Davie,though the road continues without designation into Sunrise.
Florida State Road 817 (SR 817) is a 25.691-mile-long (41.346 km) state highway in the U.S. state of Florida,locally known as Northwest 27th Avenue in Miami-Dade County and University Drive in Broward County. Its southern terminus is an intersection in Opa-locka with SR 9,which continues south along Northwest 27th Avenue to Dixie Highway in the Coconut Grove neighborhood of Miami. Its northern terminus is at State Road 834 in Coral Springs,though the right of way continues north to Loxahatchee Road at the Palm Beach County line.
State Road 847 is a 2.14-mile (3.44 km) state highway along Northwest 47th Avenue in northern Miami-Dade County,Florida,serving the Carol City/Miami Gardens area. It runs from sR 860 north to the Broward County line at Northwest 215th Street,just south of a bridge carrying the Homestead Extension of Florida's Turnpike (SR 821). There is no signage indicating either terminus of SR 847.

This district includes parts of Miami north of Florida State Road 112,including Little Haiti,as well as Brownsville,Biscayne Park,North Miami,Miami Gardens,and Opa Locka,along with the southern Broward County communities of Pembroke Park,West Park,and parts of Miramar. In the 2020 redistricting cycle,the district was drawn to include parts of barrier islands northeast of Miami,including Miami Beach and Surfside,while all of Hollywood became part of the new 25th district as Country Club and some of Miami,including Allapattah and Wynwood,became part of the new 26th district.

The previous iteration of the 25th district,which stretched from Collier County to the suburbs of Miami,was instead renamed the 26th district.

The 2022 elections for the Florida State Senate took place on Tuesday,November 8,2022,to elect state senators from all 40 districts. Although on ordinary years,20 senators are elected at a time on a staggered basis,races following redistricting elect all 40 members to ensure that each member represents an equal number of constituents. The Republican Party expanded their Senate majority from 24 to 28,gaining a supermajority in the Senate. The concurrently held House elections also resulted in a supermajority,giving Republicans supermajority control of the legislature.
