Coke Studio Philippines is a music television program in the Philippines featuring performances by various Filipino music artists. It is inspired by the Pakistani show of the same name.

History

Created by The Coca-Cola Company, the show has earlier editions in other countries in Asia like Pakistan and India. [1] The first season of the Coke Studio Philippines was aired on TV5 and was produced by Eraserheads band members, Raimund Marasigan & Buddy Zabala. [2] [3] The second season was named Coke Studio Homecoming, it was aired on ABS-CBN and was produced by Saab Magalona, the daughter of Filipino hip-hop icon Francis Magalona and the co-leading vocalist of indie band Cheats. [4] For the 3rd season, it was hosted by former Pinoy Big Brother alumnus and singer/actress Ylona Garcia.

Moira Rachelle Bustamante Dela Torre is a Filipino singer-songwriter and occasional actress. Born in Olongapo, Philippines, she began as a voice artist for corporate jingles and theme songs. In 2013, she competed in The Voice of The Philippines, releasing her debut EP Moira following her stint in the show. She rose to fame after interpreting Libertine Amistoso's "Titibo-Tibo" in the Himig Handog music video competition, in which it won. She gained further success with her 2018 debut album, Malaya, which was awarded an eight-time platinum certification in 2020.

Bini is a Filipino girl group formed in 2019 through ABS-CBN's Star Hunt Academy. The group is composed of eight members: Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, Jhoanna, and Sheena.

"Titibo-Tibo" (transl. Boyish) is a song recorded by Filipino singer Moira Dela Torre for her debut studio album Malaya. It was composed by Libertine Amistoso and it is only interpreted by Moira. The song won at the competition Himig Handog 2017 at the end of November held on ASAP. It was released for digital download and streaming on February 18, 2018, through Star Music. This song also topped that charts for 2 weeks on the Philippine Hot 100.

BGYO is a five-member Filipino boy band formed in 2018 by ABS-CBN Star Hunt Academy. The group debuted in 2021 under ABS-CBN's talent management arm, Star Magic. Dubbed as the Aces of P-pop, composed of Akira, Gelo, JL, Mikki, and Nate, the quintet co-writes several of their output and considers their Filipino roots as one of their assets, as evident in their music, songwriting and style. Their lyrics often focus on social issues relevant to younger generations, such as hope, youth empowerment and self-love.

"Runnin'" is a collaboration single of the Filipino boy group BGYO and Filipino singer-songwriter Keiko Necesario. The official track was released on 18 June 2021 as a Digital Single by Star Music. It was BGYO's second single to co-write after The Light and the second collaboration track after Feel Good Pilipinas with KZ Tandingan. It was produced virtually as part of the 4th Season of Coke Studio: Itodo Mo Beat Mo.

The 34th Awit Awards were held on November 29, 2021. Indie pop duo Leanne & Naara and folk pop band Ben&Ben led the nominations with seven, and won the awards for Album of the Year and Record of the Year, respectively. The Song of the Year category was awarded to Moira Dela Torre and Jason Marvin's work of "Paubaya".

The fifth season of The Voice Kids premiered on February 25, 2023 on Kapamilya Channel, A2Z, and TV5. Bamboo Mañalac reprised his role as a coach, being joined by debuting coaches KZ Tandingan and Martin Nievera.

<i>Billboard Philippines</i> Women in Music Philippine music award

Billboard Philippines Women in Music is an annual event by Billboard Philippines. The Philippine edition of Billboard's Woman of the Year event, it would "honor the most influential women in Filipino music," according to the magazine. Like its American counterpart, the main award is titled Woman of the Year. The inaugural ceremony was held on March 22, 2024, with Sarah Geronimo as the Woman of the Year awardee.
