Cole McConchie (born 12 January 1992) is a New Zealand cricketer who plays for Canterbury as an all-rounder. He made his international debut for the New Zealand cricket team in September 2021. [1]
McConchie made his debut for Canterbury in a List A match against Otago on 25 November 2011. He played one more List A game for Canterbury that season,before being offered a contract for the 2012-13 season. [2] He made both his First Class and Twenty20 debuts that season.
In November 2016 McConchie,playing only his seventh First Class game,hit his maiden century in a rain-affected draw against Otago. [3]
In 2018,McConchie was named as Canterbury captain. [4]
In June 2018,he was awarded a contract with Canterbury for the 2018–19 season. [5] He was the leading wicket-taker for Canterbury in the 2018–19 Ford Trophy,with thirteen dismissals in nine matches. [6]
In June 2020,he was offered a contract by Canterbury ahead of the 2020–21 domestic cricket season. [7] [8]
In November 2020,McConchie was named as the captain of the New Zealand A cricket team for practice matches against the touring West Indies team. [9] [10]
In August 2021,McConchie was named in New Zealand's Twenty20 International (T20I) squad for their tour of Bangladesh, [11] and in New Zealand's One Day International (ODI) squad for their tour of Pakistan. [12] McConchie made his T20I debut on 1 September 2021,for New Zealand against Bangladesh, [13] taking a wicket with his first ball in a T20I match. [14] He played in all five matches in the series,scoring 32 runs and taking seven wickets.
In April 2023,he was named in ODI squad for their series against Pakistan. [15] He made his ODI debut in the third ODI of the series,on 3 May 2023. [16]
The New Zealand national cricket team represents New Zealand in men's international cricket. Nicknamed the Black Caps,they played their first Test in 1930 against England in Christchurch,becoming the fifth country to play Test cricket. Todd Duncan Astle is a former New Zealand cricketer who played for the New Zealand national cricket team. Astle began his cricket career as an opening batsman,representing New Zealand in the 2006 Under-19 Cricket World Cup,but over time playing first-class cricket for Canterbury,he morphed into a bowling all-rounder. He made his Test cricket debut for New Zealand in 2012 in Sri Lanka,but did not play another international match until 2015. He represented New Zealand in all three forms of the game,but was unable to keep a consistent place in the team in any format because of regular injury problems and competition with other spin bowlers. In January 2020,Astle retired from first-class cricket to focus on limited-overs cricket. In February 2023 he retired from all forms of professional cricket.
William Alexander Young is a New Zealand professional cricketer who plays as a batsman for the New Zealand cricket team and Central Districts. He was captain of the New Zealand Under-19 cricket team at the 2012 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup.
