Conata is a ghost town in Pennington County, in the U.S. state of South Dakota. The GNIS classifies it as a populated place. [1]
Conata had its start in 1907 when the Milwaukee Railroad was extended to that point. A post office called Conata was established in 1908, and remained in operation until 1954.

The tracks for the “Milwaukee Road” railroad have been removed East and West of Conata Basin Rd, all but one section of track which still lies under the dirt road. The ends of the rails are visible on either side of the road. (See photos)

Manchester was a small unincorporated community in Kingsbury County in the east-central part of the U.S. state of South Dakota. On June 24, 2003, the town was annihilated by a large F4-rated tornado, and has since become a ghost town. In 2004, the state of South Dakota officially disincorporated the town of Manchester.

It connects with the BNSF Railway in Mitchell and Napa Junction respectively.
Petrel is a ghost town in Adams County, North Dakota, United States. It is located just across the border with South Dakota, between Lemmon, South Dakota, in Perkins County and Haynes. Petrel is a former railroad townsite and siding on the Milwaukee Road. The town was named for the long-winged pigeons seen in the area.
The Escanaba & Lake Superior Railroad is a Class III shortline railroad that operates 347 miles (558 km) of track in Northeastern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Its main line runs 208 miles (335 km) from Rockland, Michigan, to Green Bay, Wisconsin, and it also owns various branch lines and out-of-service track. In 1897, the Escanaba River Company built a seven-mile (11 km) railroad from Wells, Michigan, to tap a large hardwood timber stand at LaFave’s Hill. In 1898, the company name was changed to the Escanaba & Lake Superior Railway (E&LS).
Manor is a ghost town in Washington Township, Montgomery County, Ohio, United States. Originally, Manor was founded as a railway stop between Centerville and Lytle on the Cincinnati, Lebanon, and Northern Railway. It was located on Social Row Road just one mile east of Dayton-Lebanon Pike.

The Midland Continental Railroad is a defunct shortline railroad which operated in the U.S. state of North Dakota between 1906 and 1966. The railroad was originally envisioned as a trunk line to run from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada to Galveston, Texas. Financing problems led to only two segments totalling 77 miles (124 km) being completed.
