Cool Nights is a 1991 studio album by American jazz vibraphonist Gary Burton. [2] Burton is featured with tenor saxophonist Bob Berg, guitarist Wolfgang Muthspiel, bassist Will Lee and drummer Peter Erskine.
The album was recorded in the Studio A of the Power Station in New York City. In the accompanying booklet the record label explains that Burton's music in this album changed direction. This time Burton wanted to play something closer to music of such famous jazz names as Nat King Cole, Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, and Carmen McRae. Burton's friend Pat Metheny did not play for this album but wrote four of the eleven songs.

8:30 is the second live album from the jazz fusion group Weather Report, issued in 1979 by ARC/Columbia Records. The album rose to No. 3 on the Billboard Jazz Albums chart and No. 47 on the Billboard 200 chart. 8:30 also won a Grammy Award for Best Jazz Fusion Performance.

Alan Pasqua is an American rock and jazz pianist. He studied at Indiana University and the New England Conservatory of Music. His album Standards with drummer Peter Erskine was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2008. As a session musician, he has toured and recorded with Bob Dylan, Santana, Cher, Michael Bublé, Eddie Money, Allan Holdsworth, Joe Walsh, Pat Benatar, Rick Springfield, and John Fogerty. He co-composed the original CBS Evening News theme. He has also had an extensive career in pop and rock music, most notably as a founding member, keyboardist, and songwriter of the 1980s hard rock band Giant.
Wolfgang Muthspiel is an Austrian jazz guitarist and record label owner. He is the brother of musician Christian Muthspiel.
The GRP All-Star Big Band was a contemporary big band assembled in the late 1980s by Dave Grusin and Larry Rosen, the founders of GRP Records. The band played new arrangements of popular jazz pieces from the 1950s and 1960s.
Reunion is a 1989 album by vibraphonist Gary Burton, reuniting him with his former guitarist Pat Metheny for the first time in 13 years. Burton met Metheny at the Wichita Jazz Festival in 1973, later welcoming him as a teaching colleague at the Berklee College of Music. The album follows on from the 1992 release Paul Motian and the Electric Bebop Band, and was rereleased on the Winter & Winter label in 2005. New Vintage is the tenth studio album by Canadian jazz trumpeter Maynard Ferguson released in 1977 on Columbia Records. The title is likely an allusion to new recordings of two 'vintage' titles included in the track list. "Maria" was first recorded on Maynard '62, and "Airegin" was first recorded in 1964 for the album Color Him Wild. The front cover plays on this theme, presenting a trumpet in an ice bucket in place of a bottle of champagne, while on the back cover, the cork is seen popping out of the trumpet's bell.
