The CONMEBOL Copa América, known until 1975 as the South American Football Championship, is the top men's football tournament contested among national teams from South America. It is the oldest still-running continental football competition, as well as the third most watched in the world. The competition determines the champions of South America. Since the 1990s, teams from North America and Asia have also been invited to compete.
The FIFA Confederations Cup was an international association football tournament for men's national teams, held every four years by FIFA. It was contested by the holders of each of the six continental championships, along with the current FIFA World Cup holder and the host nation, to bring the number of teams up to eight.
The CONMEBOL–UEFA Cup of Champions, previously known officially as the European/South American Nations Cup and commonly as the Artemio Franchi Cup, is an intercontinental football match organised by CONMEBOL and UEFA and contested by the winners of the Copa América and UEFA European Championship. The 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup was the ninth FIFA Confederations Cup, which was held in Brazil from 15 to 30 June 2013 as a prelude to the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The most recent winners of the six continental championships appeared in the tournament, along with hosts Brazil and UEFA Euro 2012 runners-up Italy, who qualified because the Euro 2012 winners, Spain, had also won the most recent FIFA World Cup in 2010 thus securing a spot in the tournament.

The Copa América Centenario was an international men's association football tournament that was hosted by the United States in 2016. The competition was a celebration of the centenary of CONMEBOL and the Copa América, and was the first Copa América hosted outside South America.
The 2013 Copa EuroAmericana was the first edition of the Copa EuroAmericana, an exhibition men's football friendly tournament created by DirecTV. This edition took place in various locations across South America from 20 July to 4 August 2013. Eleven teams from both CONMEBOL and UEFA participated in the tournament. Europe, represented by Atlético Madrid, Porto and Sevilla, won the cup by a 6–2 score, beating South America, represented by Atlético Nacional, Barcelona, Deportivo Anzoátegui, Estudiantes, Millonarios, Nacional, Sporting Cristal and Universidad Católica.
The 2014 Copa EuroAmericana was the second edition of the Copa EuroAmericana, a men's football friendly tournament created by DirecTV. This edition took place in various locations in the Americas from 20 July to 2 August 2014. Thirteen teams from CONMEBOL, CONCACAF and UEFA participated in the tournament. Europe, represented by the UEFA teams, won the cup by a 5–4 score, beating the Americas, represented by the CONCACAF and CONMEBOL teams.
The 2015 Supercopa Euroamericana was the first edition of the Supercopa Euroamericana, a men's football friendly tournament created by DirecTV, disputed between the Copa Sudamericana and the UEFA Europa League winners. The match was played in 2015 by River Plate, the 2014 Copa Sudamericana champions, and Sevilla, the 2013–14 UEFA Europa League champions. The match took place on 26 March at the Estadio Monumental Antonio Vespucio Liberti in Buenos Aires. River Plate won the match 1–0.
The 2015 Copa EuroAmericana was the third and final edition of the Copa EuroAmericana, a men's football friendly tournament created by DirecTV. This edition took place in venues across South America from 28 May to 1 August 2015. Six teams, participated in the tournament. South America won the cup with three victories.
The Supercopa Euroamericana was a friendly football tournament created by DirecTV played from 2015 to 2016 in the Americas. It was contested between the Copa Sudamericana and the UEFA Europa League winners. The match was organised by DirecTV in 2015 and LaLiga World Challenge in 2016.
The 2016 Supercopa Euroamericana was the second and final edition of the Supercopa Euroamericana, a men's football friendly tournament created by DirecTV, disputed between the Copa Sudamericana and the UEFA Europa League winners. The match was played in 2016 by Santa Fe, the 2015 Copa Sudamericana champions, and Sevilla, the 2014–15 UEFA Europa League champions. The match took place on 24 July at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Bay Lake, Florida. Sevilla won the match 2–1.
The 2021 Copa América was the 47th edition of the Copa América, the international men's football championship organised by South America's football ruling body CONMEBOL. The tournament took place in Brazil from 13 June to 10 July 2021. The tournament was originally scheduled to take place from 12 June to 12 July 2020 in Argentina and Colombia as the 2020 Copa América. On 17 March 2020, CONMEBOL announced that due to the COVID-19 pandemic in South America, the tournament had been postponed for a year, in conjunction with UEFA's decision to also postpone UEFA Euro 2020 to 2021. This was the first time since 1991 where no guest nation took part in the tournament.
The 2022 Copa América Femenina was the 9th edition of the main international women's football championship in South America, the Copa América Femenina, for national teams affiliated with CONMEBOL. The competition was held in Colombia from 8 to 30 July 2022.
