Croatia is a European Parliament constituency for elections in the European Union covering the member state of Croatia. It is currently represented by eleven Members of the European Parliament. Members are elected by proportional representation using open lists. [1] [2]

Regular elections in Croatia are mandated by the Constitution and legislation enacted by Parliament. The presidency, Parliament, county prefects and assemblies, city and town mayors, and city and municipal councils are all elective offices. Since 1990, seven presidential elections have been held. During the same period, ten parliamentary elections were also held. In addition, there were nine nationwide local elections. Croatia has also held three elections to elect members of the European Parliament following its accession to the EU on 1 July 2013.

Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians Political party in Serbia

The Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians is a regionalist political party in Serbia representing the Hungarian minority.

The Zagreb local elections of 2005 were held on 15 May 2005 in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia. Following the last local elections in 2001, Milan Bandić of the Social Democratic Party of Croatia (SDP) had been re-elected as the mayor of Zagreb. In 2002, an incident made him resign in favor of Deputy Mayor Vlasta Pavić, also from the SDP. Pavić remained formally in control of the city until 2005. In the 2005 elections, she was moved down the list of candidates to the 16th place, while the list holder and SDP's candidate for mayor was Bandić.

2009 Zagreb local elections

On 17 May 2009, local elections were held in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia. The incumbent mayor was Milan Bandić, a representative of the Social Democratic Party of Croatia (SDP), also the leading party in the previous city council. Bandić was reelected mayor in the second round of the elections with 61.84% of the votes.

Hungarians of Croatia

Hungarians are a recognized ethnic minority in Croatia. According to the 2011 census there are 14,048 people of Hungarian ethnicity living in Croatia. Around two thirds of them (8,249) live in Osijek-Baranja County in eastern Croatia, especially in the Croatian part of the Baranya region which borders Hungary to the north. There are also small Hungarian communities in other parts of the country, including areas in Bjelovar-Bilogora County in central Croatia where 881 people identify themselves as Hungarian.

European Parliament elections were held in Croatia for the first time on 14 April 2013 to elect twelve Members of the European Parliament. The members served the remainder of the Parliament's 2009–2014 term after Croatia entered the European Union on 1 July 2013. The country formed a single constituency, with members elected by proportional representation using open lists.

The 2005 Croatian local elections were held on 15 May. This was fourth local elections in Croatian since independence.

Davor Ivo Stier Croatian politician

Davor Ivo Stier is a Croatian Democratic Union politician and diplomat. He was a member of the Croatian Parliament in 2011–2013, a member of the European Parliament in 2013–2016, as well as the 13th Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Croatia in 2016–2017.

2014–15 Croatian presidential election

Presidential elections were held in Croatia on 28 December 2014 and 11 January 2015, the sixth such elections since independence in 1991. Only four candidates contested the elections, the lowest number since 1997. Incumbent President Ivo Josipović, who had been elected as the candidate of the Social Democratic Party in 2009–2010 but ran as an independent, was eligible to seek reelection for a second and final five-year term. As no candidate received 50% of the vote in the first round in December 2014, a run-off took place in January 2015 between the two candidates with the most votes; Josipović and Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović. Grabar-Kitarović went on to win the elections by a slim margin of 32,509 votes or 1.48%, making her Croatia's first female president.

Mima Simić

Mima Simić is a Croatian writer, an awarded film critic, translator and an LGBTIQ+ media activist. She holds degrees in Comparative Literature and English Language and Literature from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb and Gender Studies from the Central European University. Simić was Croatia's first openly out LGBTIQ+ political candidate.

The 1997 local elections in Zagreb were held on 13 April 1997 for members of the Zagreb Assembly. The Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) won a majority in the City Assembly with 24 seats out of 50. Marina Matulović-Dropulić was named the new Mayor of Zagreb.

Ivan Vilibor Sinčić, or simply Ivan Sinčić, is a Croatian politician and anti-eviction activist, chairman of the Human Shield party and member of the European Parliament since 2019.

European Parliament elections were held in Croatia on 26 May 2019, electing members of the national Croatia constituency to the European Parliament. These were the third such elections in the country since its accession to the European Union in 2013.

The 2000 Zagreb local elections were held on 7 May 2000 for members of the Zagreb Assembly. The elections were called after the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) lost the majority in the Assembly, and the Croatian Government dismissed it and appointed an acting mayor.

Focus on the Important or just Focus is a minor political party in Croatia. It was founded by independent politicians and entrepreneurs from the Zagreb County area.

The 1993 Croatian local elections were held on 7 February. This was first local elections in Croatia after declaration of independence and breakaway from Yugoslavia. Also this was first election under new law which abolished the Council of Local Communities, the Socio-Political Council and the Council of Associated Labor at the level of towns and municipalities, and introduced counties into use.

The 1997 Croatian local elections were held on 13 April. This was first local elections in Croatia after the end of war and unification of the territory.

The 2001 Croatian local elections were held on 25 May. This was third local elections in Croatian since independence and for the first time since democratizacion.
