Cynthia Vanessa Vescan (born 7 February 1992) is a French freestyle wrestler of Romanian origin. [1]

Background and wrestling career

Vescan was born in Strasbourg, France. [2] [3] At the 2012 Summer Olympics held in London, United Kingdom, she competed in the women's freestyle 72 kg event where she lost her first bout in the round of 16 against Moldova's Svetlana Saenko. [4]

In 2021, she won one of the bronze medals in the 76 kg event at the Grand Prix de France Henri Deglane 2021 held in Nice, France. [5]

Mixed martial arts career

In March 2021, news surfaced that Vescan had signed a contract with Professional Fighters League with intentions to compete in mixed martial arts in the future. [6]

Vescan was scheduled to make her debut in mixed martial arts against Amanda Leve on August 19, 2021, at PFL 8. [7] However, Vescan has to pull out of the bout. [8]

Egypt competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, from 27 July to 12 August 2012, sending one of its largest delegations ever. Soslan Magometovich Gattsiev is an amateur Belarusian freestyle wrestler of Uzbek origin, who competes in the men's light heavyweight category. Gattsiev represented Belarus at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, where he competed in the 84 kg class. He lost the semifinal match to Puerto Rico's Jaime Espinal, with a score of 2–15. Gattsiev, however, was offered another shot for the bronze medal bout in the repechage, where he was eventually outclassed and beaten by reigning European champion Dato Marsagishvili of Georgia, with a set-score of 0–3 and 1–3.

Vanessa Boubryemm is an amateur French freestyle wrestler, who played for the women's flyweight category. She is a three-time national wrestling champion, a two-time medalist at the World Championships, and a three-time medalist for the 48 and 51 kg classes at the European Championships. She also won a gold medal in the women's 51 kg division at the 2005 Mediterranean Games in Almería, Spain. Boubryemm is a member of Lutte Club Tourcoing, and is currently coached and trained by Nodar Bokashvili.

Adel Ibrahim Moustafa was an Egyptian wrestler. He competed at the 1948 Olympics in the welterweight freestyle wrestling and at the 1952 Olympics in the middleweight Greco-Roman event, but was eliminated in the preliminary bouts in both games. A 1955 Mediterranean Games Champion, he was one of three sons of Ibrahim Moustafa, a 1928 Olympic gold medalist in Greco-Roman wrestling.

Barry Oldridge is a New Zealand wrestler. He competed in the men's freestyle 57 kg at the 1976 Summer Olympics.

Steve Reinsfield is a New Zealand wrestler. He competed in the men's freestyle 62 kg at the 1988 Summer Olympics.

Usama Aziz, also known as Sami Aziz, is a Swedish retired wrestler and mixed martial artist. He competed at the 1992 Summer Olympics and the 1996 Summer Olympics. He finished 5th in the 1992 European Championships and another 5th place in the 1995 World Championships, both in the style of Greco-Roman. His mixed martial arts career started in 2005. He competed in organisations such as Bellator MMA and Bodog Fight. He retired in 2013, following a victory over former UFC Lightweight Champion Jens Pulver.
