Cyprus was represented by Anna Vissi, with the song "Mono i agapi", at the Eurovision Song Contest 1982, which took place on 24 April in Harrogate. The song was chosen after an internal selection organised by the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (CyBC).

Before Eurovision

Internal selection

CyBC opened a submission period for Cypriot artists and composers to submit songs until 23 January 1982. [1] Each artist or composer were only allowed to submit up to two entries each. [1] By the end of the submission period, CyBC had received 29 entries, of which four were invalid. [2] The internal selection took place on 16 February 1982 and the results of the internal selection were decided by a 9-member jury. [3] The competition consisted of multiple stages and in the final stage of the internal selection, five songs remained and "Mono i agapi" by Anna Vissi was declared the winner. [2] [4]

At Eurovision

On the night of the final Anna Vissi performed eighth in the running order, following Switzerland and preceding Sweden. At the close of voting "Mono i agapi" had received 85 points, placing Cyprus in 5th of the 18 participating countries. The Cypriot jury awarded its 12 points to Germany. [6]

Ivi Adamou is a Greek Cypriot singer. She was born and raised in Agia Napa, Cyprus and currently resides in Alexandroupoli, Greece. Adamou rose to recognition in Greece and Cyprus following her participation in the second season of the Greek version of The X Factor, where she was under the mentorship of Giorgos Theofanous. Right after her elimination from the X Factor, Adamou secured a recording contract with Sony Music Greece. She gained further recognition from her participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012, where she represented Cyprus with the song "La La Love".

The release marks the first time in four years that has Vissi has collaborated with former husband Nikos Karvelas.

Agapi Einai Esi is the 26th studio album by Greek recording artist Anna Vissi, released in Greece and Cyprus on 17 December 2010 by Sony Music Greece as a covermount with Real News. It is her first album since 2005's Nylon to be completely written by Nikos Karvelas, while it also serves as their first collaboration in four years. The album has so far generated the title track single and debuted at number six on the Greek IFPI Top 75 Albums chart, moved up to third place on its third week and went gold on the fourth week.

Cyprus participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin, Italy, having internally selected Andromache to represent the country with the song "Ela", which was written by Alex Papaconstantinou, Arash, Eyelar Mirzazadeh, Fatjon Miftaraj, Filloreta "Fifi" Raçi, Geraldo Sandell, Giorgos Papadopoulos, Robert Uhlmann, Viktor Svensson and Yll Limani.
