Mangalore, officially known as Mangaluru, is a major port city in the Indian state of Karnataka and on the west coast of India. It is located between the Arabian Sea and the Western Ghats about 352 km (219 mi) west of Bangalore, the state capital, 20 km north of Karnataka–Kerala border, 297 km south of Goa. Mangalore is the state's only city to have all four modes of transport—air, road, rail and sea. The population of the urban agglomeration was 619,664 according to the 2011 national census of India. It is known for being one of the locations of the Indian strategic petroleum reserves.
Kasturba Medical College, Manipal and Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore, together known as KMC, are two private medical colleges in coastal Karnataka, India, established in 1953. The colleges were established as a single unit and later became two colleges with their own teaching hospitals. KMC was the first self-financing medical college in India. Kazaar is a 2009 Konkani film directed by Richard Castelino and produced by Frank Fernandes. It stars Larry Fernandes and Harshika Poonachcha. Larry stars in the movie as a NRI boy, who comes back to Mangalore to get married, while Harshika plays the role of his bride. The movie was initially scheduled to be released on 9 September 2009 but was delayed by two months, finally being released on 27 November 2009.
Tulu cinema, also known as Coastalwood, is a part of Indian cinema. The Tulu film industry produces five to seven films annually. The first Tulu film was Enna Thangadi released in 1971. Usually, earlier, these films were released in theatres across the Tulu Nadu region. But currently the Tulu film industry has grown to such an extent that films are being released simultaneously in Mangalore, Udupi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Gulf countries. The critically acclaimed Tulu film Suddha won the award for the best Indian Film at the Osian's Cinefan Festival of Asian and Arab Cinema held in New Delhi in 2006. In 2011, the Tulu film Industry got a second lease of life with the release of the film Oriyardori Asal. The film turned out to be the biggest hit in Tulu film history to date. Chaali Polilu is the longest running film in Tulu film industry. This movie is the highest-grossing film in the Tulu film industry. It has successfully completed 470 days at PVR Cinemas in Mangalore.
Anuradha Bhat is an Indian playback singer who predominantly works in Kannada language films. She has sung over 100 songs for feature films and also sung in various private musical albums.

Bhojaraj Vamanjoor is an Indian actor, who predominantly works in Tulu theatre and Tulu film industry. Vamanjoor is also a Yakshagana Artist. He is one of the active members of the Tulu drama troupe "Cha Parka Kalavidher Kudla" along with Devadas Kapikad, Naveen D. Padil and Aravind Bolar. Permude is a village (panchayat) located in the Mangalore taluk, Dakshina Kannada district, in Karnataka state, India. The name, "Permude", derived from Perda Mudde, is a reference to the milk that was once locally produced in large quantities. Permude is located approximately 360 kilometers from the state capital, Bangalore. Nearby villages include Bajpe and Kinnigoli. According to 2011 census information, Permude's location code or village code is 617478. The village comprises an area of 742.69 hectares. Permude falls under the Mangalore Special Economic Zone (MSEZ).
