List of Marathi-language television channels

The Marathi-language television industry was started in India in 1984. Although earlier confined to a half an hour slot in the national television Doordarshan, the industry has now expanded with many commercial TV channels currently on air. Various dedicated categories like news and movies have been added and have considerably expanded the horizon of Marathi TV entertainment.

Marathi news channels

Marathi television got its first round-the-clock news channel in the form of Saam TV in the year 2008 leading Marathi language News channel in the state. Nilesh Khare is the Channel Head and Editor of the channel since 2018. Zee 24 Taas was launched in 2007. Disney Star launched its Marathi news channel Star Majha in June 2007, which was later named as ABP Majha from 1 June 2012. Network 18 and Lokmat together formed a joint venture to launch IBN Lokmat in 2008 and which was later renamed as News18 Lokmat. In 2008, Sakal Media Groups launched its first venture in television with Saam TV. Firstly it was info entertainment, but from 1 January 2018 it became a leading Marathi news channel. In 2009, TV9 Maharashtra launched. On 1 May 2013 another channel launched, namely Jai Maharashtra, by Mumbai-based media group Sahana Films. Lokshahi News channel was launched on 26 January 2020 by Swaraj Marathi Broadcasting LLP. Pudhari News, a news channel by Pudhari Publications Pvt. Ltd., was launched on 29 August 2023. [1]

Shemaroo Entertainment Ltd. is an Indian content creator, aggregator and distributor, specifically in the media and entertainment industry. It was founded by Buddhichand Maroo in 1962 as a book-circulating library under the name Shemaroo. It set up India's first video rental business in 1979. The company went national after it began content distribution in 1987, became aggregators and bought rights to movies for home video.

The first Marathi talkie film was Ayodhyecha Raja, released in 1932, one year after Alam Ara, the first Hindi talkie, was released, before releasing Aayodhyecha Raja. Rajmata Jijau is a 2011 Marathi language film based upon the life of Jijabai, mother of the 17th century Maratha king Shivaji, as told in Madan Patil's historical novel Jijausaheb. The film was directed by Yashwant Bhalkar and produced by Mandatai and Sharadrao Nimse from the studio Jijai Chitra in Shirdi.

Gaon Thor Pudhari Chor is 2017 Indian Marathi-language film directed by Pitambar Kale and produced by Mangesh Doiphode under banner of Mangesh Movies. Gaon Thor Pudhari Chor was released on 17 February 2017.

<i>Aata Hou De Dhingana</i> Marathi-language TV game show

Aata Hou De Dhingana is an Indian Marathi language television game show which premiered from 10 September 2022 airing on Star Pravah. The series is hosted by Siddharth Jadhav.

Dil Dosti Deewangi is a 2023 Indian Marathi-language romantic drama film directed by Shirish Rane, written by Deepak Tarkar and produced by Rajendra Rajan. The film starring Smita Gondkar, Chirag Patil, Veena Jagtap, and Kashyap Parulekar in leading roles. The music is composed by Sonali Uday, while the songs are sung by Avadhoot Gupte, Vaishali Samant, and Sonali Patel.
