Dan Studney (born January 30, 1941) is an American former track and field athlete who competed in the javelin throw. His greatest achievement was a gold medal for the United States at the 1963 Pan American Games. [1] His personal best of 76.30 m (250 ft 3+34 in) (old javelin model) was achieved in Santa Barbara, California on March 30, 1963 . [2]

While competing, he was part of the Santa Clara Valley Youth Village club. He won the 1962 javelin title at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships with a mark of 75.13 m (246 ft 5+34 in). [3] [4] He attended San Jose State University and under the tutelage of coach Bert Bonanno he was part of the San Jose State Spartans collegiate team.

Studney originally hailed from Hillside, New Jersey and graduated from Hillside High School in 1959, where he competed in football and wrestling, in addition to track and field. [5] [6]

Martin Marić is a Croatian track and field athlete who competes in the discus throw. He has a personal best of 67.92 m, achieved in April 2014 in Chula Vista, California. He also has 72.31 m in the javelin throw, achieved in May 2006. Martin Marić has been a throws coach at the University of Virginia Since 2012. Maric spent the springs of 2010 and 2011 as a volunteer assistant coach at the University of Florida.

Alicia DeShasier McConnell is an American track and field athlete who competes in the javelin throw. She won the gold medal in the event at the 2011 Pan American Games.

Timothy "Tim" Nedow is a Canadian track and field athlete who competes in the shot put and discus throw. He has personal bests of 21.33 m in the shot put and 61.49 m in the discus throw. Scott Neilson is a Canadian former track and field athlete who competed in the hammer throw. His personal best was 72.72 m, set in Seattle on 1 April 1978.

Raven "Hulk" Saunders is an American track and field athlete who competes in shot put. They were the silver medalist in women's shot put at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, throwing a distance of 19.79 m. They won four NCAA collegiate titles in shot put, both indoor and outdoor, at Southern Illinois University and University of Mississippi. They were a world junior silver medalist in 2014 and the Pan American junior champion in 2015. Saunders finished 11th in women's shot put at the 2024 Paris Olympics, throwing a distance of 17.79 m. They hold a personal record of 19.96 m for the shot put.

Maggie Malone-Hardin is an American track and field athlete competing in the javelin throw. She holds a personal record of 67.40 meters for the event, set in 2021, a national record. She was the 2016 American national and collegiate record holder and NCAA Division 1 champion. She is the American collegiate record holder. Maggie and Sam Hardin married in 2022.

Herbert Larry "Buster" Quist is an American former track and field athlete who specialized in the javelin throw. His greatest achievement was a gold medal for the United States at the 1959 Pan American Games held in Chicago, where he set a games record of 70.50 m to succeed Bud Held. Despite this, he never won a national title, with his best national placing being second to Al Cantello at the 1959 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. His personal record of 74.60 m was set in Philadelphia on July 19, 1959.

Amelia Wood was an American track and field athlete who competed in throwing events, specializing in the javelin throw. She was a Pan American Games champion and a 1956 Olympian.
