The University of Maryland,Baltimore (UMB) is a public university in Baltimore,Maryland. Founded in 1807,it comprises some of the oldest professional schools of dentistry,law,medicine,pharmacy,social work and nursing in the United States. It is the original campus of the University System of Maryland and has a strategic partnership with the University of Maryland,College Park. Located on 71 acres (0.29 km2) on the west side of downtown Baltimore,it is part of the University System of Maryland.
Clayton Daniel Mote Jr. is the President Emeritus of the National Academy of Engineering. He served as the president of the NAE from July 2013 to June 2019. He also served as President of the University of Maryland,College Park from September 1998 until August 2010. From 1967 to 1991,Mote was a professor in mechanical engineering at the University of California,Berkeley,and served as Vice Chancellor at Berkeley from 1991 to 1998. Mote is a judge for the Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering.

Katepalli Raju Sreenivasan is an aerospace scientist,fluid dynamicist,and applied physicist whose research includes physics and applied mathematics. He studies turbulence,nonlinear and statistical physics,astrophysical fluid mechanics,and cryogenic helium. He was the dean of engineering and executive vice provost for science and technology of New York University. Sreenivasan is also the Eugene Kleiner Professor for Innovation in Mechanical Engineering at New York University Tandon School of Engineering and a professor of physics and mathematics professor at the New York University Graduate School of Arts and Science and Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences.

Jeanette Jo Epps is an American aerospace engineer and NASA astronaut. Epps received both her M. S. and Ph.D. degrees in aerospace engineering from the University of Maryland,where she was part of the rotor-craft research group and was a NASA GSRP Fellow. She was chosen for the 20th class of NASA astronauts in 2009,graduating in 2011. She currently serves as a member of the ISS Operations Branch and has completed analog astronaut missions,including NEEMO 18 and CAVES 19. She is the second woman and first African-American woman to have participated in CAVES. She was part of the SpaceX Crew-8 mission,that spent 235 days on the ISS from launch on March 4,2024,to return to Earth on October 25,2024.
Ulfila Mark J. Lewis is a senior American aerospace and defense executive with special expertise in hypersonics. He is currently the Executive Director of the National Defense Industrial Association's Emerging Technologies Institute,following his role in the second half of 2020 as the acting US Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering,and before that the Director of Defense Research and Engineering for Modernization. He was the Chief Scientist of the U.S. Air Force,Washington,D.C. from 2004 to 2008 and was the longest-serving Chief Scientist in Air Force history. He served as chief scientific adviser to the Chief of Staff and Secretary of the Air Force,and provided assessments on a wide range of scientific and technical issues affecting the Air Force mission. In this role he identified and analyzed technical issues and brought them to attention of Air Force leaders,and interacted with other Air Staff principals,operational commanders,combatant commands,acquisition,and science &technology communities to address cross-organizational technical issues and solutions. His primary areas of focus included energy,sustainment,long-range strike technologies,advanced propulsion systems,and workforce development.
The history of the University of Maryland,College Park began in 1856,when the Maryland Agricultural College was chartered. The state took complete control of the school in 1916,and consequently the institution was renamed Maryland State College. In a massive 1988 restructuring of the state higher education system,the school was designated as the flagship campus of the newly formed University of Maryland System and was formally named University of Maryland,College Park.
