Darryll John Pines is an American aerospace engineer and academic administrator currently serving as president of University of Maryland,College Park. He was previously dean of the A. James Clark School of Engineering and held the Glenn L. Martin professorship of aerospace engineering.
Darryll John Pines was born in Oakland,California,on August 28,1964. He completed a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering at University of California,Berkeley. [1] Pines earned a M.S. (1988) and Ph.D. (1992) in mechanical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. [2]
In 1995,Pines joined the faculty of University of Maryland,College Park (UMD),as an assistant professor. He served as dean of the A. James Clark School of Engineering for 11 years [3] and held the Glenn L. Martin professorship of aerospace engineering. [4] [5] Pines assumed the presidency on July 1,2020,succeeding President Wallace Loh. [6]
Pines was elected a member of the National Academy of Engineering in 2019 for inspirational leadership and contributions to engineering education excellence in the United States.[ citation needed ]
Pines' son Donovan Pines played for the Maryland Terrapins men's soccer team and is currently a professional soccer player on the roster of D.C. United. [7]

Mote is a judge for the Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering.

Katepalli Raju Sreenivasan is an aerospace scientist,fluid dynamicist,and applied physicist whose research includes physics and applied mathematics. He studies turbulence,nonlinear and statistical physics,astrophysical fluid mechanics,and cryogenic helium. He was the dean of engineering and executive vice provost for science and technology of New York University. Sreenivasan is also the Eugene Kleiner Professor for Innovation in Mechanical Engineering at New York University Tandon School of Engineering and a professor of physics and mathematics professor at the New York University Graduate School of Arts and Science and Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences.

Ulfila Mark J. Lewis is a senior American aerospace and defense executive with special expertise in hypersonics. He is currently the Executive Director of the National Defense Industrial Association's Emerging Technologies Institute,following his role in the second half of 2020 as the acting US Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering,and before that the Director of Defense Research and Engineering for Modernization. He was the Chief Scientist of the U.S. Air Force,Washington,D.C. from 2004 to 2008 and was the longest-serving Chief Scientist in Air Force history. He served as chief scientific adviser to the Chief of Staff and Secretary of the Air Force,and provided assessments on a wide range of scientific and technical issues affecting the Air Force mission. In this role he identified and analyzed technical issues and brought them to attention of Air Force leaders,and interacted with other Air Staff principals,operational commanders,combatant commands,acquisition,and science &technology communities to address cross-organizational technical issues and solutions. His primary areas of focus included energy,sustainment,long-range strike technologies,advanced propulsion systems,and workforce development.
The history of the University of Maryland,College Park began in 1856,when the Maryland Agricultural College was chartered. The state took complete control of the school in 1916,and consequently the institution was renamed Maryland State College. In a massive 1988 restructuring of the state higher education system,the school was designated as the flagship campus of the newly formed University of Maryland System and was formally named University of Maryland,College Park.
Morrough "Mike" Parker O'Brien,Jr. was an American hydraulic engineering professor and is considered the founder of modern coastal engineering. The Patti Grace Smith Fellowship is a non-profit program in the United States that provides paid internships,scholarships,and executive mentorship to exceptional Black undergraduate students seeking a career in aerospace. The fellowship is named after Patricia Grace Smith,a United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) official whose regulatory work helped lay the foundations for commercial spaceflight. The program was founded in her honor in 2020.
