David Wain Chadwick (born 1991or1992 [1] ) is a British politician who has been the Liberal Democrat Member of Parliament for Brecon,Radnor and Cwm Tawe since the 2024 UK general election.
Chadwick grew up in Gloucestershire,to a mother from Maesteg. [2] [3] At the age of 19 he was accepted into the Army Intelligence Corps,but had to drop out due to "over-training". He then went to study international studies at Leiden University. [1] [3]
In 2012,he was hit by a car,which split his leg in two,which took 3 months to recover from. When in 2014,he decided to move his studies to Argentina,he had yellow fever vaccination which triggered a rare condition called Guillain-Barrésyndrome. This caused him to become "totally paralysed". [1]
Chadwick contested North Dorset in the 2019 general election. [4] He was selected to stand for the Brecon,Radnor and Cwm Tawe in 2024 UK general election in 2022. [3] He won the seat with a majority of 1,472 votes. [5]

The 2024 United Kingdom general election was held on Thursday,4 July 2024. Thirty-two seats were up for election in Wales as the general election occurred after the recently completed boundary review took effect. The Labour Party won a landslide victory of Welsh MPs,gaining six seats for a total of 27. Both Plaid Cymru and the Liberal Democrats gained one seat each,taking them to four seats and one seat respectively. The Conservatives lost all thirteen seats they had held previously,leaving the party without Westminster representation from Wales for the first time since 2001.
