Brian George Felton Mathew [1] is a British Liberal Democrat politician who has been the Member of Parliament for Melksham and Devizes since 2024. [2] He defeated former Conservative minister Michelle Donelan,who had chosen to contest this seat in view of boundary changes at her Chippenham seat. [3]
Mathew had stood unsuccessfully for the North Wiltshire seat in 2019. [4]
Mathew previously worked for aid organisations,including WaterAid in Tanzania. [5] He was elected for the Box &Colerne ward of Wiltshire Council in 2017 and re-elected in 2021. [6]
