Delmi Tucker (born 5 March 1997) is a South African cricketer who plays for Western Province, Duchesses and South Africa. [1] She made her international debut for South Africa in June 2022. [2]

Career

Tucker attended Hoërskool Menlopark school in Pretoria, [3] where she played hockey and cricket. [4] Tucker went on to play hockey for Northerns, before turning her focus to cricket. [5]

Tucker was part of the South Africa Emerging squad that played against Zimbabwe in May 2021. He all-round performance helped South Africa take an unassailable 3–0 lead in the five-match series. [6] In September 2021, Tucker was again named in the South Africa Emerging squad, [7] this time to play eight matches against Thailand during their tour of South Africa and Zimbabwe. [8]

In May 2022, Tucker earned her maiden call-up to the national team for their tour to Ireland. [9] She was named in South Africa's Women's One Day International (WODI) and Women's Twenty20 International (WT20I) squads following a strong performance in domestic cricket, [10] [11] where she had scored more than 400 runs and taken 15 wickets. [12] Tucker made her WODI debut on 11 June 2022, for South Africa against Ireland, however she was not required to bat or bowl. [13] Tucker made her WT20I debut on 21 July 2022, also during South Africa's series against England. [14] Also in July 2022, Tucker was added to South Africa's team for the cricket tournament at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England. [15]

The South Africa women's cricket team toured England to play against the England women's cricket team in June and July 2022. Originally, South Africa were scheduled to tour England in September 2020. The tour was scheduled to consist of four Women's One Day Internationals (WODIs) and two Women's Twenty20 Internationals (WT20Is), with all the matches taking place at the County Cricket Ground in Derby. However, in August 2020, the tour was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In February 2022, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced a new schedule for the tour, consisting of three WODI matches, three WT20I matches, and a one-off Women's Test match. It was South Africa Women's first Test match since they played India in November 2014. A points-based system was used across all three formats of the tour.

The Pakistan women's cricket team toured South Africa to play against the South Africa women's cricket team in January and February 2021. The tour consisted of three Women's One Day Internationals (WODIs) and three Women's Twenty20 Internationals (WT20Is). Originally, some of the fixtures were scheduled to be played at the City Oval in Pietermaritzburg. However, on 10 January 2021, Cricket South Africa updated the tour itinerary with all the matches being played at the Kingsmead Cricket Ground in Durban.
