Jean Baptiste Lucien Buquet was a French entomologist and insect dealer mainly interested in Coleoptera. He described many new genera and species. Buquet’s business dealt in exotic Coleoptera, especially Dynastidae, Buprestidae, Lucanidae, Scarabeidae and Cerambycidae. He also sold Lepidoptera, especially Morpho and Agrias. The insects came mainly from the French colonial empires. He was a member of the Société entomologique de France
Jean-Charles Jacobs was a Belgian doctor and entomologist, a pupil of Constantin Wesmael. He graduated in medicine from the University of Brussels, but never abandoned the study of insects, and was one of the founders of the Société entomologique de Belgique. He concentrated on the Hymenoptera, often in collaboration with Jules Tosquinet, turning to Diptera later in life. Among his later studies was a report on the insects collected by the Belgian Antarctic Expedition, including that continent's largest fully terrestrial animal, the fly Belgica antarctica .
Paul Mabille was a French naturalist mainly interested in Lepidoptera and botany.
Charles Kerremans was a Belgian entomologist who specialised in Coleoptera, especially Buprestidae and Cicindelidae.
Aaaaba is a genus of beetles from the Buprestidae family. It inhabits locations along the east coast of Australia. It was described in 1864 by Achille Deyrolle as "Alcinous", a junior homonym of a genus of pycnogonids. In 2002, Charles Bellamy gave it the replacement name "Aaaba", but this proved to be another junior homonym, of a genus of sponges. In 2013, it was given a further replacement name, becoming Aaaaba.

Abel Dufrane was a Belgian entomologist who specialised in Lepidoptera.
Thanasimodes is a genus of beetles in the subfamily Clerinae.
Synlestes is a genus of damselflies in the family Synlestidae. Species of Synlestes are very large damselflies, metallic green to dark bronze or black in colour with white, yellow or orange markings. Unlike many other damselflies, they spread their wings when resting. They are endemic to eastern Australia where they inhabit streams.
Colaxes nitidiventris is a jumping spider species that lives in India. It was discovered by Eugène Simon in 1900 and is the type species for the genus Colaxes.
Afroeurydemus is a genus of leaf beetles in the subfamily Eumolpinae, found in Africa. The genus was separated from Eurydemus in 1965 by Brian J. Selman, who moved all African species of Eurydemus he had seen to this genus or related African genera and considered it likely that Eurydemus was restricted to Fiji. Many species were also originally placed in Syagrus.
Metaxyonycha is a genus of leaf beetles in the subfamily Eumolpinae.
Franciscus J.M. Heylaerts (1831–1916) was a Dutch entomologist who specialised in Lepidoptera and Coleoptera. By profession he was a physician. His collection of Psychidae is held by Rijksmuseum Natural History, Leiden.
André Théry (1864–1947) was a French entomologist who specialised in Coleoptera especially Buprestidae. He founded in Algiers la Société d'Histoire naturelle de l'Afrique du Nord ( 1909) and in Morocco la Société des Sciences Naturelles (1920).
