Department of Agriculture and Co-operation is a cabinet level ministerial post in the Government of Telangana. First held on 2 June 2014, this ministry has one of the important portfolios in the cabinet of the state. The incumbent Minister for the Department of Agriculture and Co-operation for the state of Telangana is Thummala Nageswara Rao. [1]

Contents

The department was created mainly to provide agricultural extension services to farmers and to transfer the latest technical knowledge to the farming community. [2] Telangana's agriculture department separated from Andhra Pradesh as part of Andhra Pradesh bifurcation. [3] [4] It aims to promote agricultural trade and to boost agricultural production and productivity in Telangana.

Background

The economy of Telangana is largely dependent on agriculture and most people have taken farming as a profession.[ citation needed ] The podu system is used in some areas.[ citation needed ]

The Second N. Chandrababu Naidu ministry or the Nineteenth ministry of United Andhra Pradesh of the state of United Andhra Pradesh was formed on 11 October 1999 headed by N. Chandrababu Naidu as the Chief Minister following the 1999 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly election. The cabinet was sworn in a simple ceremony held at Raj Bhavan, Hyderabad. Initially the chief minister and eight other ministers of his council of ministers were administered the oath of office and secrecy by the then Governor C. Rangarajan. The Statue of Social Justice, also known as the Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Smriti Vanam, is a 125-ft tall statue located in Vijayawada in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The memorial dedicated to B. R. Ambedkar, an Indian polymath, statesman, social reformer and the father of the Indian Constitution. This Ambedkar's statue is 125 feet (38 m) tall and stands on an 81 feet (25 m) tall base building, making its total height 206 feet (63 m). It is the fourth tallest statues in India.

Katipally Venkata Ramana Reddy is an Indian politician and member of legislative assembly from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) who represents Kamareddy constituency in the Telangana Legislative Assembly. In 2023 Telangana Legislative Assembly election he created History as he defeated both the incumbent Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and the then to-be-elected Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. He defeated his nearest rival, KCR, by 6741 votes.
