Derrick Harmon is an American football defensive tackle for the Oregon Ducks. He previously played for the Michigan State Spartans.

Early life and high school

Harmon attended high school at Loyola High School. Coming out of high school, Harmon was rated as a three star recruit, the 59th defensive tackle, and the 1,077th best player in the class of 2021. [1] Harmon also held offers from schools such as Alabama A&M, Ball State, Central Michigan, Memphis, Michigan State, Ole Miss, Purdue, and Southern Mississippi. [2] Ultimately, Harmon decided to commit to play college football for the Michigan State Spartans. [3] [4]

College career

Michigan State

During Harmon's freshman season at Michigan State in 2021 he played in four games to preserve his redshirt. [5] During Harmon's second season at Michigan State in 2022 he played in twelve games making five starts, where he tallied 30 tackles with three being for a loss, and two sacks. [6] In the 2023 season, Harmon posted 40 tackles with three and a half being for a loss, a sack and a half, a pass deflection, and a forced fumble. [7] After the conclusion of the 2023 season, Harmon decided to enter his name into the transfer portal. [8] [9] However a month later, Harmon decided to withdraw his name from the NCAA transfer portal. [10] [11] Then a few months later when the spring season started, Harmon again decided to enter his name into the NCAA transfer portal. [12] [13]

Oregon

Harmon decided to transfer to play for the Oregon Ducks. [14] [15]
