Diana Alexandra Olteanu (born on 15 April 2000), known professionally as Diana V, is a Romanian singer and songwriter signed by Global Records. In February 2020, she was announced as one of the three artists shortlisted to represent Romania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 as part of the label's collaboration with broadcaster Romanian Television (TVR). [upper-alpha 1] Her debut single, "Bad Girls Get Lonely Too", was released later that month and reached number 67 on the local Airplay 100 chart.
Born on 15 April 2000 in Bucharest, Diana V showed a special interest in music from an early age and also auditioned for her local church choir at the age of four. In 2020, she signed a record deal with Romanian label Global Records. Diana V is passionate about literature. [9] During her childhood, she used to listen to gospel artists such as Aretha Franklin, who eventually influenced her music style. [2] In a Unsitedemuzică.ro interview, the singer cited Beyoncé's "Run the World (Girls)" (2011) as a song that "defines" herself. [3] A Uniunea Producătorilor de Fonograme din România editor praised Diana V's "unique" voice tone and vocal power, as well as her songwriting skills in an article. [9]

Upon being part of the girl group Wassabi from 2006 to 2009, she rose to fame with her 2019 single "Mariola", which topped the Romanian Airplay 100 chart. Subsequently, in 2021, "Rampampam" became a hit in multiple territories.
Romania has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 23 times since its debut in 1994, and has placed in the top ten six times. Its best results were achieved by Luminița Anghel and Sistem in 2005, and by Paula Seling and Ovi in 2010, who both finished in third place. In 2005, Bănică started a solo career and became one of Romania's most successful pop artists, with 2 number ones and 15 Top20 singles, as well as hit songs like "Love in Brasil", "Samba", "Hooky Song", "Sexy", "Shining Heart" and "Rain in July".
Andrei Tiberiu Maria, better known by his stage name Smiley, is a Romanian singer, songwriter, record producer, actor and television presenter, from Pitești. He was part of the pop groups Simplu (2001–2011) and Radio Killer (2009–2015). As a solo artist, Smiley started in 2007 and has become one of Romania's biggest pop artists, archiving 14 number ones and more than 30 Top20 singles.
Alexandra Irina Măruță, better known by her stage name Andra, is a Romanian singer, songwriter and television personality. Andra began her career at the age of seven, where she had her first performance in TVR's musical competition Tip Top Minitop, singing "I Will Always Love You" by Whitney Houston. In 2001, at 14 years old, Andra released her first single, "În noapte mă trezesc". It was written by Adelina Stîngă and Victor Bouroșu, while the production was solely handled by the latter. A dark ballad, the song's lyrics discuss combatting self-neglection in modern society, referring to this phenomenon as "self-love amnesia". Music critics generally applauded the song, with praise concentrated on its catchiness and commercial appeal, as well as on Roxen's vocal delivery. For promotional purposes, a music video was released simultaneously with the digital premiere of the song and was directed by Bogdan Păun. Filmed at an empty National Theatre Bucharest, the visual shows Roxen and several dancers performing contemporary dance to portray the story of a person who manages to gain control over their surrounding fears.
Romania participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin, Italy, with "Llámame" performed by Wrs. The Romanian broadcaster, Televiziunea Română (TVR), organised the national final Selecția Națională 2022 in order to select the Romanian entry for the 2022 contest. The national final consisted of three shows, including two semi-finals and a final. A total of 46 entries were selected and 10 qualifiers ultimately competed in the final on 5 March 2022, where the winner scoring top marks from both a jury panel and a public televote was selected.
