Dirk Verbeuren (born 8 January 1975) is a Belgian musician and the current drummer of American thrash metal band Megadeth, amongst other projects. He previously was a member of the Swedish melodic death metal band Soilwork.

Contents

Verbeuren recorded five full-length albums and a live DVD/Blu-ray with Soilwork, and performed in Europe, the United States, Canada, Japan, Australia, Russia and China as a headlining act between early 2004 and July 2016. [5] In 2016, Verbeuren left Soilwork to join Megadeth as a full-time member. [6] With Megadeth, Verbeuren has since recorded the full-length album The Sick, the Dying... and the Dead! , released in September 2022.

Influences

Verbeuren cites Dave Lombardo and Mick Harris as earliest influences on his drumming. Other influences include Gavin Harrison, Sean Reinert, Gene Hoglan, Tomas Haake, Steve Flynn, Pete Sandoval, Morgan Ågren, Tony Laureano and Chad Smith. [7] [8] Verbeuren is also a fan of hip hop music and mentioned The Beastie Boys, Run-DMC, and Public Enemy as his favourite hip hop groups in his teen years. [8]

For their next album, they fell back to using their original band name and ended their activities in 2004, with their final live performance in 2005. In April 2019, they reformed and released their fifth studio album in 2020.

Mike Smith is an American musician, best known as the founding member and former drummer of the New York–based technical death metal band Suffocation. He performed on their 1990 demo Reincremated, the 1991 EP, Human Waste, their 1991 debut album Effigy of the Forgotten, and their 1993 album Breeding the Spawn. He then departed from the band and was subsequently replaced before the bands departure from the scene in 1998. Smith returned when Suffocation reformed in 2002 after a four-year hiatus and performed on their 2004 release, Souls to Deny, their 2006 self-titled album, and 2009's Blood Oath. Smith was Inducted into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame in 2011. Smith left Suffocation for the second time in February 2012.

Nir Zidkyahu, also known as Nir Z, is an Israeli studio-session drummer, and the brother of Blackfield's drummer Tomer Z. He joined in spring 1997 with Genesis (band), he played in eight tracks for their last album Calling All Stations and then became available for their 1997-1998 tour.

Bent Sea is a Belgian American grindcore band formed in January 2011 by drummer Dirk Verbeuren. After writing and recording a number of songs, Verbeuren enlisted vocalist Sven de Caluwe of Belgian death metal band Aborted (vocals) and multi-instrumentalist Devin Townsend (bass) for the Townsend-produced debut EP Noistalgia which was released as a digital download on November 11, 2011, and later on cassette format by Tankcrimes.

Her online video project, which began in 2010, saw Cohen performing drum covers of popular rock and heavy metal songs, and amassing a huge fan base that has resulted in more than 100 million total views. In August 2015, Meytal's first studio album Alchemy was released. The Ride Majestic is the tenth studio album by Swedish melodic death metal band Soilwork. It was released on 28 August 2015 and is the first album to not feature longtime bassist Ola Flink who left before the recording of the album and also the last album to feature longtime drummer Dirk Verbeuren, who left the band in July 2016 to join Megadeth.

<i>Verkligheten</i> 2019 studio album by Soilwork

Verkligheten is the eleventh studio album by Swedish melodic death metal band Soilwork, released on 11 January 2019 via Nuclear Blast. It is the first album to feature drummer Bastian Thusgaard as the replacement of longtime member Dirk Verbeuren. The album's release also marks the longest gap between Soilwork studio albums to date, with their previous album, The Ride Majestic, having been released nearly three and a half years earlier.

Blood from the Soul is an industrial metal supergroup formed by Napalm Death bassist Shane Embury. The band's debut album, To Spite the Gland That Breeds (1993), featured Embury with Sick of It All vocalist Lou Koller. In 2020, Embury reformed the band with a new line-up, featuring vocalist Jacob Bannon, drummer Dirk Verbeuren and bassist Jesper Liveröd. The band's sophomore record, DSM-5, was released in the same year.

"Post American World" is a song by American thrash metal band Megadeth. It is the sixth track from their fifteenth studio album, Dystopia, which was released on January 22, 2016. The song was released as the album's fourth and final single on July 19, 2016.
