Dishyum (transl.Tussle) is a 2006 Indian Tamil-language action-romance film directed by Sasi. Cinematography by Santonio Terzio. The film stars Jiiva, and Sandhya, while Guinness Pakru, Nassar, and Malavika Avinash play supporting roles. The film's score and soundtrack are composed by Vijay Antony. The film was released on 2 February 2006, receiving positive reviews from critics. [2]

Plot

Bhaskar, a stuntman, is smitten with Cynthia, a college student. However, his heart is broken when he learns that she doesn't love him back, but he still to tries persuade her.

Production

The producers of the film had initially signed Pooja to play the lead role in January 2004, before Sandhya replaced her. [4] Before Jiiva was brought onboard, the film was shot for eleven or twelve days with actor Ashok. [5] Vijay Sethupathi played a police officer in the initial version, which was later scrapped. [5] The film was reshot with Jiiva. He had previously trained in Kung fu for three years, underwent gymnastics training for his role as a stuntman. He performed some of the stunts himself, and was accompanied by stunt directors all the time. He further revealed stuntmen were the first to see the film. [6]

The music was composed by Vijay Antony of Sukran fame. The soundtrack received good reviews. [7] The song "Dailamo Dailamo" was reused in Buddhivantha (2008) and Mahatma (2009).

Reception

Nowrunning.com review said that "it is an absorbing story telling with minimum fuss for the youth" and gave it 3/5. [8] Indiaglitz.com review said that "is a feel-good movie for youngsters". [9] Sify.com gave a verdict that the film is "enjoyable". [10] Lajjavathi of Kalki praised the acting of Jiiva, Sandhya and other actors, Vijay Antony's music and Santonio's cinematography but found climax to be dramatic which Sasi could have been avoided and added slowly developing love and increasing interest little by little, the film is completed with a thump that is a success for the direction. Sangeetha Rajeshwaran is a playback singer in the Tamil film industry. She lives in Chennai with her husband and two sons. Seetal Iyer, former World Space RJ, is her cousin. She recently participated in the Zee Tamil Sa Re Ga Ma Pa 2009 Challenge singing competition, where she and her partner Raghu reached the semi-finals.

Kutteem Kolum is a 2013 Malayalam comedy film directed by Guinness Pakru, who made his directorial debut with this film. Starring Guinness Pakru, Munna, Adithya and Sanusha in the lead roles, the film was produced by Ansar Vasco under the banner United Films. The script was written by Suresh Satheesh, while the story was written by Pakru himself which revolves around the bonding between friends living in an imaginary village named Kumarapuram bordering Tamil Nadu. Pichaikkaaran (transl. Beggar) is a 2016 Indian Tamil-language action thriller film written and directed by Sasi, produced by Fatima Vijay Antony and starring Vijay Antony and Satna Titus, with Bagavathi Perumal, Vazhakku En Muthuraman, and Dheepa Ramanujam in supporting roles. Antony also composed the music for the film. The story is about Arul, a billionaire businessman who leads a 48-day long secret life as a beggar as part of a religious offering to save his hopeless dying mother.

Aavi Kumar is a 2015 Tamil horror comedy film directed by Kandeepan. The film stars Udhaya and Kanika Tiwari in the lead roles while Nassar, Jagan and Manobala among others form an ensemble cast. This movie is an unofficial remake of Mohanlal starrer Vismayathumbathu (2004). Music for the film was composed by Vijay Antony and Srikanth Deva and the film opened to negative reviews in July 2015.

Seeru (transl. Roar) is a 2020 Indian Tamil-language action film written and directed by Rathina Shiva. The film stars Jiiva, Riya Suman, Navdeep, Varun, and Gayathri Krishnaa in the lead roles. D. Imman composes music for the film and the film is bankrolled by Ishari K. Ganesh under his production studio Vels Film International. Principal photography commenced on 4 December 2018. The film was released on 7 February 2020 and opened to positive reviews.

<i>Sangathamizhan</i> 2019 film by Vijay Chandar

Sangathamizhan is a 2019 Indian Tamil-language action drama film written and directed by Vijay Chandar. The film stars Vijay Sethupathi in the title role with Nivetha Pethuraj and Raashii Khanna, Soori, Nassar, Ravi Kishan, and Ashutosh Rana playing pivotal roles. The music is composed by Vivek-Mervin, and cinematography was handled by R. Velraj. Principal photography reportedly commenced during February 2019 in Hyderabad. The film was released on 15 November 2019. It received highly negative reviews and was a flop at the box-office.

<i>College Days</i> (2010 film) 2010 Malayalam film

College Days is a 2010 Indian Malayalam-language crime thriller film written and directed by G. N. Krishnakumar. The film stars Indrajith Sukumaran and Biju Menon in pivotal roles. The film received mixed to negative reviews from the critics and the audience. The script and the performances of Indrajith, Biju Menon snd Jagathy Sreekumar were praised where as the cast, poor screenplay and direction were criticised.
