Domenic Michael Abounader (born March 11, 1995) is an American-born freestyle and folkstyle wrestler. Domestically, Abounader competed at St. Edward High School in Lakewood, Ohio, where he won three state titles, finishing his senior season undefeated and the number one ranked wrestler in the country at 182 lbs. Abounader attended The University of Michigan, where he was a Big Ten Champion and NCAA All-American. [2]
Internationally, he competes for Lebanon, his father's home country. As a dual citizen, Domenic is eligible to compete for Lebanon, since he never wrestled for the United States at the international level. In his first international tournament, he won a silver medal at the 2018 Asian Games, the first medalist for Lebanon in wrestling. [3] [4] He lost to Iran's Hassan Yazdani in the final match of the men's freestyle 86 kg. [5]

He became Olympic champion in the 74kg category at the 2016 Summer Olympics after defeating Russian wrestler Aniuar Geduev in the final. The following year he became World Champion at the 2017 World Wrestling Championships in the Men's freestyle 86 kg category. He won his second world title at the 2019 World Wrestling Championships in Kazakhstan and third at the 2021 World Wrestling Championships in Norway.

Lebanon first competed at the Asian Games in 1978 Bangkok, and the best achievement was in the 2006 Doha, when the country gained a gold, and 2 silver medals. At the last edition in Incheon, Lebanon collected 2 medals, a silver and a bronze.

Deepak Punia, is an Indian freestyle wrestler supported by OGQ and Naib Subedar in the Indian Army. He won a silver medal at the 2019 World Wrestling Championships in the freestyle 86 kg category, where Hassan Yazdani of Iran, a wrestler that Punia idolises, won the final by walkover. Punia's silver medal did, however, secure him a place in the 2020 Summer Olympics. The Indian wrestler, born in Jhajjar district, Haryana, got another chance to go against Yazdani in the wrestling competition at the 2022 Asian Games – in the Men's freestyle 86 kg final. But Yazdani beat Punia 10-0 in a one-sided match.

He claimed a Tokyo Olympic Games bronze medal in 2021. In the age-group, he was the 2018 Cadet World Champion and claimed silver medals from the 2019 Junior World Championships and the 2018 Youth Summer Olympics.
