Don Chapman is an American architect, builder, and politician who is currently serving as a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives from the 6th district. Mitchell is a Republican.

Early life and career

Chapman was born in Japan. [1] He attended Savannah College of Art and Design where he received a Bachelor's degree in interior design and a master's degree in architecture. In 1994, he founded his own architecture firm in Anderson, South Carolina. [2]

Chapman serves on the House Rules and the Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environmental Affairs Committees. [3]

Political career

In 2008, Chapman was elected to the city council of Anderson, South Carolina. He held the position for 14 years. He resigned in 2021 to run for state representative for South Carolina's 8th district. [4] The incumbent at the time was Jonathon D. Hill, who was accused of multiple ethics violations. [5] Hill withdrew from the primary race and Chapman won the nomination. In the 2022 general election, Chapman defeated the Democratic candidate with over 70% of the vote. [6]

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2022 North Carolina House of Representatives election</span>

An election was held on November 8, 2022, to elect all 120 members to North Carolina's House of Representatives. The election coincided with the elections for other offices, including the U.S Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, and state senate. The primary election was originally going to be held on March 8, 2022, with a run-off in June 2022, however the North Carolina Supreme Court delayed the primary until May 17, 2022, pending challenges over the State's districts and paused candidate filing. Prior to this pause, several candidates had already filed to run The elections will be held under new districts passed by the General Assembly in House Bill 976 to account for population changes following the 2020 census. The maps were later overturned by the North Carolina Supreme Court, who ordered the legislature to draw new maps. The North Carolina General Assembly later redrew the maps which were upheld by the Wake County Superior Court and the North Carolina Supreme Court. Candidate filing resumed on February 24, 2022 and concluded on March 4, 2022.

Heather Bauer is an American politician of the Democratic Party. She is the member of the South Carolina House of Representatives representing District 75. In the 2022 general election for South Carolina House of Representatives District 75, Bauer defeated Republican Kirkman Finlay III, who had been a member of the South Carolina House since 2012. Bauer was outraised by Finlay, but prevailed due to public concern about women's reproductive rights.

Jordan Pace is an American politician of the Republican Party. He is the member of the South Carolina House of Representatives representing District 117. In the 2022 general election for South Carolina House of Representatives District 117, he defeated Democratic incumbent Krystle Matthews, who had been a member of the South Carolina House since 2018. Matthews was running simultaneously for the US Senate seat held by Republican incumbent Tim Scott, who ultimately defeated her in that race.

Connell went on to defeat Democratic nominee Eve Carlin in the general election.
