Seth Rose is an American lawyer and politician. Prior to his legal and political career,Rose was a First Team All-America singles tennis player for the University of South Carolina. In his college career Rose twice defeated the number one ranked NCAA singles player in the nation and advanced to the Round of 16 in the 2003 Div. I NCAA Men's Singles Championships held in Athens,Georgia. He was inducted into the Gamecock Athletic Hall of Fame in 2014. In 2024,he served as the President of the University of South Carolina Lettermen's Association. A former Richland County Councilman (2011-2018),he is currently a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives from the 72nd District,serving since 2018. As a Councilman he is credited with instituting roll call voting and the broadcasting of Council meetings over the internet/cable television. [3] [4] Councilman Rose was also responsible for:stopping unwanted rock quarries along Bluff Road near Williams-Brice Stadium and the Arthurtown neighborhood;closing adult businesses (in Council District 5) operating for decades in violation of county zoning laws;playing an integral part in the redevelopment of the Rosewood Curtiss Wright Hangar;stopping the practice of private websites putting all Richland County mugshots of accused citizens online and charging money for their removal;expanding library services across downtown Columbia and St. Andrews (including the return of the Edgewood Library branch to the community after being closed for forty years); [5] [6] and voting against financially wasteful budget items.
Representative Rose currently serves on the House Judiciary committee and the Operations and Management committee. [7] Rose also serves on the Joint Legislative Committee to Screen Candidates for College and University Boards of Trustees. As a Freshman Legislator Rose had more bills signed into law than any other Legislator after having three bills he authored become law. Representative Rose has also successfully passed several other laws to include a conditional discharge for disorderly conduct and expanding youthful offender criminal record expungements. Rose has also secured tens of millions in road improvements in the District he represents including pedestrian safety enhancements on Millwood Avenue,S. Main Street,Broad River Road, [8] and a transformative five million dollar project on Harden Street in Five Points. Most recently Representative Rose secured 3.5 Million for a future pedestrian safety and road diet project for Devine Street,12 million for a future Assembly street project (to include a 10 foot wide sidewalk around the State Fairgrounds) and 16 Million in State Funds for infrastructure to spawn development along Columbia's riverfront. Rose is married to Anna Cartin,they have three children,Cole,Luke and Matilda “Tillie”.

Jean Hoefer Toal is an American former judge who was a chief justice of the Supreme Court of South Carolina. She was the first woman and the first Roman Catholic to serve as chief justice. In 2013,she became the first chief justice on the Supreme Court of South Carolina since the 1800s to have an opponent run against her. Toal has continued to serve in the judiciary as a senior judge since her retirement from the Supreme Court.
Robert D. "Bob" Coble is a former mayor of Columbia,South Carolina. Coble has been a resident of Columbia for most of his life having graduated from Dreher High School in 1971 where he was student body president. Coble and Frannie Heizer won the 1971 South Carolina State High School Debate Championship. Coble graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1975 cum laude and the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1978 cum laude. Coble was elected to the Richland County Council in 1985 and served until 1988. Coble was elected Mayor of Columbia South Carolina in 1990 and served until 2010. Mayor Coble was elected Mayor five times and in his last re-election in 2006 received 64% of the citywide vote. He was succeeded as mayor by Steve Benjamin. Coble is married to Beth Coble,the daughter of former South Carolina Attorney General Daniel R. McLeod in 1978. They are the parents of six children and twelve grandchildren.
The Libertarian Party of Michigan is the state affiliate of the Libertarian Party of the United States (LP) for Michigan. Like the national LP,the Libertarian Party of Michigan advocates for libertarian political goals. The party gained primary ballot access status in 2016 due to the vote total of presidential nominee Gary Johnson,but lost it after 2018 gubernatorial nominee Bill Gelineau failed to reach the required threshold in the general election.

He ran for Governor of South Carolina twice,in 2010 and 2014,losing both times to Nikki Haley. In 2020,Sheheen lost reelection to Republican Penry Gustafson.

Operation Lost Trust was the name of an FBI investigation into the South Carolina General Assembly from 1989 to 1999. By the end of the investigation,seventeen members of the South Carolina General Assembly were arrested for bribery,extortion,or drug use. Operation Lost Trust is often considered the greatest political scandal in the history of the state of South Carolina. It directly influenced the passing of South Carolina's Ethics Reform Act of 1991,and led to the restructuring of the state government in 1993. In its wake,the once-dominant South Carolina Democratic Party was weakened as a political party,and the Republican Party emerged as a viable political entity in the state.
The 2022 South Carolina gubernatorial election took place on November 8,2022,to elect the governor of South Carolina. Incumbent Republican governor Henry McMaster ran for re-election for a second full term in office and secured the Republican nomination in the June 14 primary. Joe Cunningham,former United States Representative from South Carolina's 1st congressional district,was the Democratic nominee. McMaster won the general election with 58% of the vote —a larger margin than in 2018.
