Leon D. "Doug" Gilliam (born November 22, 1964) is an American politician. He is a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives from the 42nd District, serving since 2018. He is a member of the Republican party. [1] [2] During a House debate on South Carolina's abortion bill, Gilliam argued that a raped 12-year-old girl could "take an ambulance" to obtain plan B. [3]
Benjamin Ryan Tillman was a politician of the Democratic Party who served as governor of South Carolina from 1890 to 1894, and as a United States Senator from 1895 until his death in 1918. A white supremacist who opposed civil rights for black Americans, Tillman led a paramilitary group of Red Shirts during South Carolina's violent 1876 election. On the floor of the U.S. Senate, he defended lynching, and frequently ridiculed black Americans in his speeches, boasting of having helped kill them during that campaign.

The North Carolina Constitutional Convention of 1835 was a meeting of delegates elected by eligible voters in counties in the United States state of North Carolina to amend the Constitution of North Carolina written in 1776 by the Fifth North Carolina Provincial Congress. They met in Raleigh, North Carolina from June 4, 1835, to July 11, 1835, and approved several amendments to the constitution that were voted on and approved by the voters of North Carolina on November 9, 1835. These amendments improved the representation of the more populous counties in the Piedmont and western regions of the state and, for the first time, provided for the election of the governor by popular vote rather than election by the members of the General Assembly.
Daniel O. Jones is an American serial killer who raped and stabbed four young women to death in Kansas City, Missouri, between 1998 and 2001.
