Dongducheon Rock Festival is an annual rock festival, which has been held in late summer since 1999 in Dongducheon, South Korea. The motto of the festival includes hopes and wishes for peaceful reunion of South and North Korea. It is considered one of major music festivals in South Korea. [1]

The 12th edition of the festival was held at the Soyosan Tourist Resort in Donducheon from August 14-15, 2010. The line-up included Killer Cuts, Morning of July, Geonadeul Locust, Yi Chihyeon and Friends, Yi Hyeonseok Band, Kim Mokkyung Band, Baekdusan Band, Love and Peace, Jongseo Kim and Spring Summer Autumn and Winter (SSAW) for the first day, and Vanilla City, Crow, Crying Nut, Transfiction, Diablo, Kim Soochul Bank, Balckhole, Pia, NEXT and YB for the second day.

Korean rock is rock music from South Korea. It has roots in American rock, which was imported to South Korea by U.S. soldiers fighting in the Korean War and stationing in U.S. military bases in South Korea after the war. Around the U.S. military bases, local musicians could have opportunities to learn American rock music and perform it on stage for U.S. soldiers. As a result, many Korean rock bands, called Vocal Bands or Group Sound, started their musical careers in the 1960s. Under the military administration in the 1970s, rock music and its subculture were classified as a depraved youth culture and restricted. After the Korean Fifth Republic, the censorship policies under the military government were abolished and rock music became a mainstream genre in South Korea until the end of the 1980s. Today, rock music is not the main genre in the music market in South Korea, but it still occupies a big portion of music consumption in the nation.

The South Korea men's national volleyball team represents South Korea in international volleyball competitions and friendly matches, governed by Korea Volleyball Association. The national team's best performance at the Olympic Games was 5th place at the 1984 Games in Los Angeles, California, United States. Valley Rock Festival is held annually on the last weekend of July. Sharing many artists, the festival is arranged by 9 Ent, which is Smash Corporation, and in close coordination with Japanese Fuji Rock Festival. In 2009 on the festival's maiden year, there were some controversies regarding the festival's split from neighboring Pentaport Rock Festival. Shin Daechul is a South Korean musician and songwriter. He is best known as leader and guitarist of Sinawe, who are considered one of the first heavy metal bands in South Korea. He is the son of Shin Jung-hyeon, who is often called "the Godfather of Korean rock music," and the older brother of fellow musicians Shin Yunchul and Shin Seokchul.
