The governor of New Jersey is the head of government of the U.S. state of New Jersey. The office of governor is an elected position with a four-year term. There is a two consecutive term term limit,with no limitation on non-consecutive terms. The official residence of the governor is Drumthwacket,a mansion located in Princeton,New Jersey. The governor's office is located inside of the New Jersey State House in Trenton,making New Jersey notable as the executive's office is located in the same building as the legislature. Dawn Marie Addiego is an American politician who represented the New Jersey's 8th legislative district in the New Jersey Senate from 2010 to 2022. A member of the Democratic Party,she previously served in the General Assembly from January 8,2008 to November 22,2010 as a Republican. On November 15,2010,after Phil Haines was confirmed to serve on the New Jersey Superior Court for Burlington County,that county's Republican committee nominated and appointed Addiego to fill Haines' vacant seat for the remainder of his unexpired term.

The 2009 New Jersey gubernatorial election took place on November 3,2009. Incumbent Democratic governor Jon Corzine ran for a second term against Republican Chris Christie,Independent Christopher Daggett,and nine others,in addition to several write-in candidates. Christie won the election,with about 48.5 percent of the vote,to 44.9 percent for Corzine and 5.8 percent for Daggett. He assumed office on January 19,2010. This was the first election to fill the newly created office of lieutenant governor,with the candidates for governor choosing their running mates. Kim Guadagno,Christie's running mate,became New Jersey's first lieutenant governor following her inauguration.
A general election was held in the U.S. state of New Jersey on November 3,2009. Primary elections were held on June 2. Most state positions were up in this election cycle,which includes all 80 seats in the New Jersey General Assembly,as well as Governor and Lieutenant Governor. In addition to the State Legislative elections,numerous county offices and freeholders in addition to municipal offices were up for election. There was one statewide ballot question. Some counties and municipalities may have had local ballot questions as well. Non-partisan local elections,some school board elections,and some fire district elections also happened throughout the year.

Karrow,after Karrow filled the vacancy for the New Jersey Senate in the same district. He has been co-chair of the Republican Conference,alongside Nancy Munoz,since January 14,2020. He was elected Minority Leader of the General Assembly after Jon Bramnick was elected to the State Senate.
Celeste M. Riley is an American Democratic Party politician,who currently serves as the Clerk of Cumberland County,in the U.S. state of New Jersey. She previously served in the New Jersey General Assembly from 2009 to 2015,where she represented the 3rd legislative district. Riley is the first woman to represent this district in the New Jersey Legislature.
The 218th New Jersey Legislature began on January 9,2018 following the 2017 Elections. The session started in the end of Chris Christie's governorship and continued in the first two years of Phil Murphy's governorship.
