Dreamloop Games Ltd., known as Dreamloop, is a Finnish video game developer based in Tampere, Finland. [1] The company was founded in August 2014 by current chief executive officer Joni Lappalainen, current chief technical officer Hannes Väisänen, and current chief marketing officer/creative director Steve Stewart. [2] All three founders previously worked together at Fragment Production, where Stewart served as Marketing Director. [2] Dreamloop currently employs 8 people, and is led by its co-founders. [3] In late 2015 Dreamloop began actively campaigning to reform Finnish laws surrounding Crowdfunding. [4] [5] In 2015 Dreamloop launched a Kickstarter campaign to finance production of their upcoming game Challengers of Khalea, but funding was unsuccessful. [6]
In November 2015, Dreamloop released the arcade shooter Stardust Galaxy Warriors for PC. [7] The game features 1-4 player local co-op multiplayer, and has been received well by both critics and the Steam community. [8] In April 2016, in an interview on PopGeeks.net, Dreamloop Games announced that it would bring Stardust Galaxy Warriors to consoles. [9] Stardust Galaxy Warriors currently maintains a 93% positive rating on Steam. [7]
Dreamloop is currently in production of the tactical role playing game Challengers of Khalea. [10] Initially imagined as a combination of multiplayer online battle arena and turn-based tactics genres, a change of direction in early 2016 led the title to transform into a tactical turn-based role playing game, heavily inspired by the Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy Tactics titles. [9] The visuals were heavily inspired by both comic book art and Art Nouveau, in order to create an entirely unique 2D representation for storytelling, akin to various Japanese role-playing game titles. [11] Challengers of Khalea is expected to be released in November 2016. [11]
XCOM is a science fiction video game franchise featuring an elite international organization tasked with countering alien invasions of Earth. The series began with the strategy video game X-COM: UFO Defense created by Julian Gollop's Mythos Games and MicroProse in 1994. The original lineup by MicroProse included six published and at least two canceled games, as well as two novels. The X-COM series, in particular its original entry, achieved a sizable cult following and has influenced many other video games; including the creation of a number of clones, spiritual successors, and unofficial remakes.
Tactical role-playing games, also known as strategy role-playing games and in Japan as simulation RPGs, are a video game genre that combines core elements of role-playing video games with those of tactical strategy video games. The game is set in the 25th century, 30 years after the events of Star Trek: Nemesis. Star Trek Online is the first massively multiplayer online role-playing game within the Star Trek franchise and was released for Microsoft Windows in February 2010. At launch, the game required a game purchase and a recurring monthly fee. In January 2012, it relaunched with a tier of free-to-play access available. After a public beta testing period, a version of the game was released for OS X in March 2014. Due to technical issues with the port, support for OS X ended in February 2016. It was later released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in September 2016. The game has received several expansions since release and has gotten mixed reviews from critics.
Panzer Tactics DS is a turn-based tactical video game for the Nintendo DS developed by Sproing Interactive Media. It was released in North America on November 7, 2007. An HD remake by bitComposer Games, named Panzer Tactics HD, was released for PC and iPad on May 22, 2014.
Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions is a tactical role-playing game developed and published by Square Enix for the PlayStation Portable (PSP). The game is an updated version of Final Fantasy Tactics made for the PlayStation, which was released in 1997.

Sentinels of the Multiverse is a cooperative card game published by Greater Than Games and released at Gen Con 2011. Players control a team of comic book-style heroes battling a villain. Each player controls one or more heroes, while a villain and environment deck each run themselves. A given game includes 3 to 5 heroes, 1 villain and 1 environment, which can be mixed and matched to create a number of different scenarios. The core game comes with 10 heroes, 4 villains, and 4 environments. The board game has also been made into a video game.
Massive Chalice is a turn-based tactics video game for Microsoft Windows, OS X, Linux and Xbox One by Double Fine Productions, which was funded through Kickstarter. The project leader of the game was Brad Muir, who was previously the project leader of Iron Brigade.
Satellite Reign is a cyberpunk real-time tactics video game developed and published by 5 Lives Studios. The game was released for Windows, macOS, and Linux in August 2015. It is a spiritual successor to the Syndicate series, which co-founder and programmer Mike Diskett had worked on. The name of the game is derived from one of the weapons featured in Syndicate Wars called "Satellite Rain". It received positive reviews from critics.
Mech Mice is a strategy tactical role-playing game developed by Hyper Hippo Games and Oktober Animation. Users can command several mouse warriors in a fictitious military force known as the Mech Mice to fight the Dark Union and other predators to safeguard Roden's fictional content. Mech Mice beta was released on 9 July 2013, and was officially made available on 8 October 2013. In an effort to expand the brand, the main game was renamed to Mech Mice Tactics on 1 March 2014. An animated series co-produced by Oktober Animation, Nelvana, and Playmates Toys was announced in 2015.
Earthlock is a role-playing video game developed and published by the Norwegian company Snowcastle Games for Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, OS X, Linux, PlayStation 4, and Wii U. The Xbox One version was launched on September 1, 2016 worldwide. The Windows, OS X, and Linux versions, initially planned for release at the same time as the Xbox One release, were postponed to September 27, 2016. The game is planned to be the first volume of an Earthlock trilogy. The Wii U version was released on September 7, 2017 in Europe, and on September 14, 2017 in North America. A version for the Nintendo Switch was released on March 8, 2018. The game received mixed reviews from critics, who were heavily divided. Some called it a nostalgic throwback with memorable characters, while others panned its design as dated, and its art style, gameplay and/or story as bland or unoriginal.
Chaos Reborn is a turn-based tactical role-playing game developed by Snapshot Games and was part funded through a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign in April 2014. Following an early access release in December 2014, the full game was released in October 2015.

Total War: Warhammer is a 2016 turn-based strategy and real-time tactics video game developed by Creative Assembly and published by Sega for Windows via the Steam gaming platform. The game was brought to macOS and Linux by Feral Interactive. The game features the gameplay of the Total War series with factions of Games Workshop's Warhammer Fantasy series; it is the first Total War game not to portray a historical setting. It is the 10th title in the Total War series and the first title to be released in the Total War: Warhammer trilogy.
Tahira: Echoes of the Astral Empire is a tactical role-playing video game developed by Australian indie game developer Whale Hammer Games. First announced as a Microsoft Windows, OS X and Linux title in November 2014, the game has been in development since mid-2013 by a team of three developers. Between February and March 2015, a successful Kickstarter campaign was created to help fund development. The game was also chosen to receive additional support from the government funding agency Screen ACT.
Duelyst was a free-to-play digital collectible card game and turn-based strategy hybrid developed by Counterplay Games, who initially self-published the title but was later published by Bandai Namco. It had been released in an open beta period in 2015, and the full game was released on April 27, 2016. Due to declining player counts, servers for Duelyst were shut down on February 27, 2020.
Snapshot Games is a Bulgarian video game developer headquartered in Sofia. Snapshot Games was founded in 2013 by Julian Gollop and David Kaye. Gollop is recognized for creating the X-COM video game franchise in the 1990s with X-COM: UFO Defense and X-COM: Apocalypse. Gollop also is the CEO of Snapshot Games. In addition to Gollop, the company includes about eight developers who are industry veterans with years of previous experience working for Ubisoft Sofia, Crytek Black Sea, and other Bulgaria studios.
Gloomhaven is a cooperative board game for one to four players designed by Isaac Childres and published by Cephalofair Games in 2017. It is a campaign-based dungeon crawl game including a narrative campaign, 95 unique playable scenarios, and 17 playable classes. Since its introduction the game has been acclaimed by reviewers, and has been described as one of the best board games ever made.
